I have a commercial meat wrapper just like the meat markets use so freezer wrapping is a snap.
I’m set until the next sale that comes the end of every month.
The four main food groups are...Salt,Sugar, Grease, and Alcohol.
Hopefully, there's enough to go around...
Must not let “darling” see this thread. He will be jealous of all the steaks flying around. We are grilling pork kabobs, with Texas Sweet onions, right from our garden...I had to pull them up...they were drowned, bell peppers from the grocery store (I had intended to have my own peppers ready for the 4th, but they drowned, and the hail knocked off every baby pepper), baby carrots, also salvaged from our garden...they floated out of the ground...
we are trying some new (to us, that is) BBQ sauce, made locally. If we like it, I’ll send you a jar...If we don’t like it, I’ll send you a jar... lol
Oh, and of course, there will be a hotdog or two on the grill, because there is a small blonde tornado who informed me as we started the marinade for the pork that she doesn’t eat that...why? She doesn’t know, it just didn’t look good. The other blonde tornado (the one with four legs and a furry body) will be loyally following the human blonde tornado around hoping for things to fall from plates, and the calico tornado-ette will be waiting on the inside for me to bring her a piece of hotdog, and maybe pork too, if I can get a bit that has no marinade...lol preferably that has been dropped in the grass, and still has a piece or two of grass stuck to it (she likes her veggies, you know).
Ohhhhh, and I saw in passing on the food network, some people grilling bananas, then putting them in smores...but instead of graham crackers, they were chocolate chip cookies! So, we are going to have to find a grocery store open today...I NEED choco chip cookies and bananas. When I told “darling” he looked at me like I was crazy, and had just suggested pickles and icecream! LOL
/babble_off :P
Nothing wrong with female wine drinkers.
Damn—good idea. Maybe I should get a chest freezer and a side of beef.
Meat—it’s what’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...
I am so gonna go out like Curly in City Slickers, and at my service, Daniel Stern is gonna say, “He ate bacon three times a day—you just can’t do that!”

We’re going to a covered dish picnic with the Garden Club. We’re taking butter beans.I have no clue what anyone else is bringing nor any idewa what the main course will be, I imagine probably hot dogs.
In honor of your birthday I’m baking a brown sugar pound cake with fresh strawberries. Too bad you’ll miss it. I told you to sail that ark in this direction. lol Can you get here by tomorrow?
Give the two footed blonde tornado kiss and a hug.
As for pickles and ice cream, ask Daddy about Hershey’s chocolate sauce adn pork rinds. ;)
That's the best way to get a good sear on the outside of thick steaks like that.
All this BBQ/steak talk .....
Our local Asian market has an outstanding selection of meats & fish. Almost all steaks (Delmonico, strip, blade, ribeye) $4.50/lb. Ultra-fresh seafood, whole fish cut to order.
Hmmm.... think I’ll take a ride in a few minutes.
What’s in that magic dust container?
Any of you got a good Apricot Marinade recipe for meat? have a great Memorial Day.
The kids requested brats for our little cook-out.
:)
If I go over to the market today, I’m also gonna’ buy a cast iron skillet to cook the steaks.
Was checking a site which sells Kobe (Japanese) steaks for $50.00/lb, and the recommended cooking method is sear over flame in cast iron, then put the whole skillet into a 350 degree oven for about 10 to 15 minutes, let rest for 5 minutes.
I’ve seen this method used elsewhere for prime steaks, have never tried it myself.

Dunno. It’s some Las Vegas BBQ joint I grabbed off the Internet.
You sure you don’t want kisses from the four-legged blonde as well? He’s freshly in from a romp in the backyard flood...smells like wet dog, and looooooooves kisses!
Pork rinds? those fried things they sell at the gas stations? And you made Daddy purchase those things? Bless his heart.
ACK! Strawberries! We decided that if it wasn’t pouring, we were going to the self-pick farm to get strawberries and blackberries today! I forgot! Gotta run...need kid dressed in clothes that can get muddy, old shoes, and a change of clothes for the ride home...must wear out puppy so he can go to bed while we are gone...must wake up darling...who was called into work because his soldiers got scared of the rain or something at 11PM, and didn’t get home until 4AM...poor dear. LOL Happy Memorial Day!
Thanks. You too
Not 10 or 15 minutes!
That method is recommended by at least one online steak-provider. Omaha Steaks.
If you’re having baked potatos you’re all set - but warm the oven up to 500F plenty of time before you get a cast iron skillet almost red hot. This smokes like hell, but pepper both sides good (and season if desired) and sear for two minutes a side. Maybe 5-7 minutes in the oven tops, if you like well-done.
