Immigration disaster looming
The Washington Times ^ | May 29, 2007

Judging by what took place in the first hours of the Senate immigration debate last week, critics are deluding themselves if they expect lawmakers to improve the bill when debate resumes after the Memorial Day recess. Most of the organized political pressure on the immigration issue is coming from open-borders advocates intent on enabling more illegals to obtain amnesty and bring their relatives to the United States, and from Washington elites on the left and the right who think anyone who doesn't share their permissive philosophy is backward and xenophobic. Unless the American people rise up en masse and tell their senators in no uncertain terms that they cannot accept amnesty, the Senate bill will easily pass and no one should be surprised if it passes with amendments making it even more harmful to taxpayers and detrimental to hometown safety and homeland security.

Two votes in particular that occurred on Thursday illustrate the problem. Sen. Norm Coleman a moderate Minnesota Republican who cannot possibly be termed "anti-immigrant" or a "bomb thrower" introduced an amendment aimed at closing the notorious "sanctuary city" loophole that cities and states are using to avoid compliance with federal immigration law. Section 642 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 was supposed to guarantee that local law-enforcement officials can communicate with with federal law-enforcement agencies regarding suspected immigration violations. But to get around federal immigration law, localities have instituted ordinances barring local law enforcement from even asking whether someone is lawfully in the United States. Mr. Coleman's amendment would permit law-enforcement officers to ask about a person's immigration status during routine investigations. "In a post 9-11 world, it is simply unacceptable for communities to ignore federal laws requiring them to share this type of information with federal authorities," Mr. Coleman said.

I feel the fix is already in and there is nothing that will stop the insanity. We will have to vote them OUT, and try to reorganize with a new group of conservative leaders that will do the will of the people as they are elected to do.

One question I have not seen addressed — if this bill passes, is it irrevocable? Would it grant illegal aliens rights that were legally enforceable and could not be revoked by a later, saner Congress?

Defeatism serves no purpose.
1. We can still change votes.
2. Even if we cannot, a failure to do anything will not help. We will become depressed and the politicians will wigh the ticked off minority vs changing demographics.

Time to send in your contributions to the only presidential candidate who can credibly reverse this manure-ridden setup: Duncan Hunter.

I hope he gets traction out of this.

Absurd as this argument was, Mr. Menendez and Sen. Edward Kennedy defeated Mr. Coleman's amendment by a 49-48 vote, with eight Republicans Sens. Pete Domenici (New Mexico), Chuck Hagel (Nebraska), Dick Lugar (Indiana), Mel Martinez (Florida), Olympia Snowe (Maine); Arlen Specter (Pennsylvania), George Voinovich (Ohio) and Lindsey Graham (South Carolina) joining 41 Democrats in opposition.

A faily concise list of RINO enemies. These are the traitors upon whom extreme pressure must be applied. Everyone who reads this should call their offices tomorrow.

Once this is passed the damage will be done, voting them out later is not the solution.

It has to be stopped now, this is not the time wring our hands, and say the fix is in, it is the time to STOP it!

See my sig...I agree, but the more I see this in the news the dimmer I believe our chances are at stopping it. My Senators, Congressman, and President, must know me by now as much as I have written and called.

I am fearful of this bill being signed. My health has suffered because of my anger over our leaders rulers shoving this down our throats. I hardly ever look at FOX, but reading on FR last night, I saw that Sowell was on H&C. I tuned it.

Sowell says he can see a time when a military coup could come about in this country. I sometimes wish our military would arrest many in Congress and the Executive branch of government for treason. The military could secure the border in no time and monitor the building of a secure wall Things are truly out of control in D.C.

“Once this is passed the damage will be done, voting them out later is not the solution.”

So right. These thugs if voted out will simply move onto jobs with the Big Businesses they help guarantee cheap labor by passing this bill.

After this bill passes, the GOP will be finished. The only question is if the votes of new mexican “legals” will be enough to make up for millions of conservatives who will no longer be voting or voting GOP.

NOTHING! Nothing. Is irrevocable.
But having the deleterious effect of an untold number of individuals made legal by fief, is VERY problematic.
Sort of like Un-ringing a bell.
Once here and ensconced within the heart of the nation and feeding at the breast of the system, it is VERY, VERY difficult to remove those invited in by dint of political calculation and gross stupidity. Better to be selective with the invitations to our party rather than have it crashed by anyone who is looking for a "Rave" with benefits.

Remember this has to go through the House too. From many perspectives the House is more conservative than prior to the mid-terms as many Blue Dog Democrats got in on this specific issue over their open-borders GOP opponents. We need to start lobbying them hard and heavy.

IT’S IRREVOCABLE!

Oh, for goodness sakes. I'm utterly opposed to this travesty of a bill, and its passage would mark a dark chapter in our history, and possibly threatens the continued existence of the Republic itself. But, even the Constitution can be modified. This bill is not, and cannot be, irrevocable.
