Oh, I agree that the republic is effectively dead at this point and we are becoming some sort of oligarchy, but I do not agree that this was the intention of the Founders.

Orwellian, isn’t it?

Preserving our national interests by ceding them.

Probably not, some of them anyway. But the second founding was a different story. The Federalists won going away. It was close for a while but Gov Clinton finally gave in. Hamilton didn’t get everything he wanted, but Washington just sat and let it happen. Patrick Henry of the Virginia Henrys crawled out of his curmudgeonly crypt one more time, but it was too little, too late.

” The Federalists won going away.”

They lost the “we don’t need a bill of rights” argument.

That was thanks to the Virginians. Virginia eventually rebelled anyway to no profit. New York was the other part of the Axis of Hope, but they weren’t active on either side. Gov Clinton didn’t like it, but let it go through.

There seems to be a very focused definition of national interests.

I prefer things to be in the interest of the nation.

I’m still reading on this thing. It sure goes way back. I even found Pete McCloskey chairing the “Law of the Sea & Oceans Policy” in 1977. It was part of the larger “Members of Congress for Peace through Law (MCPL)” movement. The goals of the MCPL Education fund were:

• Substituting law for war in human society.
• Improving and developing institutions for just and peaceful settlement of international disputes.
• Strengthening the United Nations and other international institutions.
• Reducing world armaments.
• Advancing human rights and equal justice under law for all peoples.
• Developing a global economy where every person enjoys the material necessities of life and a reasonable opportunity for the pursuit of happiness.

Liberals and comies. They’ll destroy us. With the help of the “pragmatics”(R).

"You support this bill?"

Sorry..I'm missed this post from a few days back..

Yes, I support a much needed change and a fence and I don't think we will get one without cutting a deal with the border locals who have depended on cheap labor for years.

I would like to see stronger wording on the fence in the bill...some sort of guarantee that if there is no fence the whole bill is void.

It's like that old cigar commerical... "We're gonna gitcha! You know we're gonna gitcha!! Sooner or later, one way or the other, you'll always know were gonna gitcha!!!

They wantcha numbed down and dumbed down to the lowest common denominator in total mind numbing equality and mediocrity with them in charge as totalitarians!!!

Remember... "You know we're gonna gitcha!!!"

Oh! And don't forget!! Politics used to be getcha gotcha pitch and bich!!!

Today, the Demonicrats aren't satisfied with that anymore, now they're personal destruction tactics always aims to make it a criminal allegation, rather than just dirty tricks!

Of course then the MSM pronounces you guilty in their "court of public opinion" before you can ever prove yourself innocent and by then no one will believe it anyways!

This leads to lower and lower character types (especially in celebrities) running for office and why the wheels are coming off the whole system!!!

It's amazing to see how quickly other Repubs announce they'll challenge an incumbent Repub that's being smeared even without any formal charge or accusation... just innuendo peppered with audacity and lots of venom!!!
