Of Drunks, Panties And Immigration
America Talks ^ | June 10, 2007 | David Zublick

Posted on 06/10/2007 8:20:46 AM PDT by AmericaTalks

The Paris Hilton train wreck this past week shows unequivocally that our society is collapsing from within.

It was not about Hilton. It was about us. Here is a woman, a celebutante, a pop tart, receiving more attention than the top story of the week; namely the Bush immigration bill going down in flames.

We were at first shocked and outraged that Hiton was released from jail just five days into an already reduced sentence for committing a crime that could have resulted in her death or the death of other people. We then sat transfixed as we watched the images of Hilton being picked up at her house and brought back to the courtroom. This was reminiscent of the slow speed O.J. Simpson Bronco chase. Wall to wall coverage.

When the judge ordered Hilton to serve her entire 45 day sentence, we both cheered and jeered, depending on how we view the situation. But the bottom line is, we had an opinion. We had an opinion about the images of her crying in the back seat of the squad car, we had an opinion about the screaming fit she exhibited in the courtroom. At water coolers in offices across the United States, the name of Paris Hilton was on the lips of just about every individual.

What does that say about us as a nation?

It says that we are hung up on celebrity status. We love to prop up the rich and famous, then tear them down. It says we care more about whether or not Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan are wearing their panties than whether 30, million illegal aliens will continue to infest our nation. It says we show more concern over Hilton's brief incarceration, than we do over two true patriots, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who are serving 11 and 12 year prison sentences respectively, for protecting our nation admirably from drug smuggling maggots.

The fact that the Hilton story was the major news item of the past week makes it crystal clear that our priorities as a nation are screwed up.

The bottom line here is that Hilton got what she deserved. And if we allow the President to resurrect this immigration bill, a truly more important issue, we will get what we deserve.

Memo to Bush: After Hilton gets out of jail, after Lohan sobers up, after Spears gets her underwear back on, recruit them to sell your amnesty plan through public service announcements. The public will probably buy it.

Not to mention the terror threat.

It’s impossible for me to conceive of deciding that terror is a big enough threat to fight a war over but not a big enough threat to secure the borders over.

What is the thinking that went into that decision?

I join you in your mortification!

Who do you believe more? A young ditsy girl or a lawyer who served in the Clinton Administration and was caught covering up for same administration?

That depends.

What does Sandy Berger look like in a thong?

It is not the people that are beating that sick horse. It is the media, her handlers and those in positions of authority who want Americans to think about anything but their own interests and the interests of their nation.

Don’t condemn your own for failing to fully comprehend the evil which resides in the hearts of those in Power. It is those in Power who take every measure to keep the average American unaware and/or otherwise so burdened by concerns over a living that full and active participation as a citizen is beyond him..

I’m not condemning anybody. But most people don’t want to face up to their responsibilities as citizens. Period.

Don’t judge all Americans, even the Americans who agree with you, by the few people here in FR.

Most Americans would never think of writing or calling their congress-demons, no matter how much they disagreed with them.

Most Americans are out stoking the BBQ or watching the game on TV with their feet propped up and a beer in hand and if you tried to move them you know what they’ll say: “what are you going to do”.

And more power to them. I’m glad most Americans know how to enjoy life and their families and want to get ahead and not try to change the world. It’s a great attitude. But the downside is, they don’t want to get involved. They don’t want to pay attention. They don’t want people like us cajoling them and telling them you better do this or you better do that.

And the downside is, the evil scum in Washington (in both parties) know all this and can go about wrecking the country for their own short-term gain with absolute and total impunity.

And you know that’s true. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Not just the few who might happen to join you here. But all of them.

See what they say.

“What can you do?” -— that’s what you’ll hear

Good point - if he had actually gotten anything accomplished, who’s to say it would have been helpful?

It is not that the people are not active.. I believe their voices are muffled, their opinions are suppressed.

Just as C Span Censored Dr. Savage.. the Press, the Mandarin Class, and our Public Officials censor the people when ever they can.

They censored him by shutting of the camera. They censor us by cutting off direct access to our elected officials.

Citizens can work like crazy to get someone elected like Congressmen Cunningham only to be frozen out by Washington’s Republi-con and Demon-crat Party Apparatus. They then watch helplessly as their Congressmen is taken down.

We are censored by the Media who does not report our Rallys even when the participants outnumber the anti-American protesters as as happened in the Washington DC Gathering of Eagles.

They censor us by when ever possible at the grass roots level seeking the least articulate to state our positions. They censor us by setting our spokesmen up against 2-3 liberal spokesmen insuring the conservative position will receive no more that 30% of “equal” time.

They censor us by under or failing to report accurately the calls, e-mails and letters the elected officials receive from us. (want proof?)There is no independent means of verification with regards to the number, subject and position of correspondence to our elected officials (how convenient). The staffer says X and X it is. Who is to know or say different?

Of course the information our elected officials receive conveniently corresponds to the ascendants desires. (or at least does not significantly hinder them). Finally our elected officials add their stench and act based upon that which is most profitable first, supports their political philosophy second.. The peoples desires or interests? A distant third if that..

I believe our conservative people are far more concerned and active than is revealed. It is not revealed or acknowledged because it is not in the interests of those in power to do so..

Where am I wrong?

W
