I'd be happy to. Except some won't let me. Go through and read the entire exchange. I presented facts available from any well known historical volume. People took issue with them and called me arrogant. One even claimed that slaves were far better off in the South than in the North, living on large plantations and even raising white children. It was in the North where they were treated poorly.
Viewpoints like that should not go unchallenged.
Sounds good to me!
Here’s a great place to get steaks, they’re pricey, but they’re the best!

Thanks!
I’m here to serve. :)
Corrected to agree with my wife's comments to me, since I'm retired & she isn't. :)
LMAO! Yes, that’s right. LMAO.
I retired in ‘86 when I was 55.
Every day is a holiday when you’re retired. :)
Yeah, I get things done now I i>want to do, plus have time for a little (very little, it seems) golf.
I hung up my clubs in the 80’s; too damn much arthritis. *sigh*
I still have set of Tony Lema pro model clubs I bought in the early 60’s.
You need to NOT attack my patriotism here-—so back off,,,,
Furthermore——I WAS only making a statement when I said that the only reason south lost was because they were outnumbered. Can I prove that is right? NO. Can you prove it is not righT? NO.
Personally, I am glad that the south was not able to secede. I would not want to end up with a bunch of little countries instead of one unified nation. (and I use unified VERY loosely here.) I am extremely proud to live where I do and DON’T YOU EVER try to assume or insinuate that I do not thank God everyday for where I live and appreciate this great nation and the freedoms I enjoy. I ALSO have the freedom of speech and for you to attack me because I STUDY history and have something to say about it or a different OPINION than mainstream, public educated people who probably had football coaches for history teachers, makes me question your appreciation of our freedoms. I never said Lincoln wasn’t a good president or an intelligent one. I just said enough with the hype...
AND although I am glad that the nation remained as one, I am EXTREMELY proud my SOUTHERN heritage and the men who fought so bravely NOT for slavery-—but to defend their homeland——Thomas Jackson and Robert Lee along with many others were some of the greatest military commanders this country has EVER known. I am very proud of that. And one note to Lincoln’s credit,,,he did try to get Lee as HIS commander of the union first,,,
And your smart comment about still fighting the civil war???? HOW OLD ARE YOU? It was relevant to the discussion we having about whether or not looks matter as a president and SOMEONE else referred to lincoln.
So put that in pipe and smoke it,,,,,,
I don't smoke a pipe.
So, let's agree to disagree, shall we?
You got it yankee,,,
:o) Peace out
No, I didn't. I just called off the war because this is not the time or place to wage it again. If you want to continue with your beliefs, that's fine. But understand one thing; you didn't convince me of anything, nor did you insult me, nor did you make me feel bad nor cower from the strength of you.
I just quit in recognition that some things never change.
And would you equally champion George III's war to Preserve the Union? And if not, why not, since "preserving the union" is the criteria of greatness?
“Unfortunately, Abe didnt get the chance to use much of his legal wit while fighting the war.”
Actually he did. Primarily he used his legal training to violate Constitutional law and the Bill of Rights.
He waited for Congress to adjourn before calling up troops for the purpose of “putting down the rebellion”- he obviously was end-running a battle over getting a Declaration of War (his apologists argue one wasn’t necessary- but then they tend to want a Presidency with unlimited power).
He suspended the duly elected Maryland government and replaced them with military rulers.
He closed down opposition newspapers and jailed their editors- no freedom of speech for opponents of Lincoln and his war.
He jailed some 10,000 northerners without charging them, violating habeus corpus.
He deported an elected political opponent, Clement Vallandingham, making him “the man without a country”.
He sent an agent to arrest a sitting Supreme Court justice who had opposed some scheme of Abe’s- unfortunately the agent didn’t carry out the arrest so the Lincoln Cult denies he made the effort despite the existence of Lincoln’s order of arrest.
There’s plenty more along this line. Lincoln was more a Caesar than a President, utterly above the law. You can still meet Russians who think Stalin was a “great man”, because many people worship power, not their political freedom. We naturally see Stalin as a monster who slaughtered his own contrymen- the Russian will counter that Abe killed 600,000 out of a population of 30 million and say “what’s your point?”
The Lincoln cult will cry that Lincoln freed the slaves, the Russian that Stalin freed the serfs from their oppressors.
In my library I have a volume titled “The American Civil War” It consists of London newspaper essays by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, the godfathers of the Communism, who were great admirers of Lincoln and his war against the reactionary South. I figure they could recognize their own kind long before their progeny seized Russia 50 years later.
