“Wasn’t Bloomie a Democrat before he went to the Republican party?”

No he was a liberal elitist Upper East Side Democrat. It’s a special breed grown in New York. I know them well and have a special love for them. Like a plague of locusts.

"He’s going to be the Ross Perot of 2008, giving us a Clinton Presidency."

LOL! The ONLY people who even give a rat's a-- about Bloomberg is New York City, which would never go GOP anyway. He would siphon more votes from the liberals, not the conservatives. That would help Fred Thompson and hurt Hillary Clinton.

Has he got enough money to actually buy the Presidency?

If Bloomberg runs as an independent Rudy, and Mitt have NO shot at winning a general election now. Thompson must be doing a jig over this. Not so sure about McCain because of regionalism. This might tip the scales and get Gingrich to announce. An independent helps the true conservatives more than the RINOs.

I see no evidence that most conservatives would vote for Rudy. And for your contention to be true, they would have to.

I’ve watched the polls for a year. You know who wins the Republican majority of the vote? No one.

There is a reason Thompson is rising so fast in the polls. All those undecideds that outnumbered what the other three were polling, are breaking towards him. before his entrance they were sitting this election out undeclared. Of all signs concerning what conservatives will and will not do, I find that telling.

I also find telling the pro-life block “leaders” have been making it very clear they will not support nor vote for Rudy. their word holds weight with that crucial block of voters Reublicans need to win. One went so far to say he’d vote third party.

I find it telling the owner of this site has made it very clear where he stands on a rudy candidacy and taken strides to campaign against him here no matter whether he won the nomination or not.

I don’t believe, as you do, most conservatives would back him. I need better evidence then Hillary is shrill, given using pelosi as a ghost didn’t work in 2006.

And Bloomberg is just as likely to take from rudy’s liberal base as Hillary. Again, it all comes back to conservative’s intent. And the examples I put above give ample reason to believe they’d be chilly to rudy under any circumstance.

Ever since 1981, there’s been a Bush or a Clinton in the Executive branch.

And, except for 1964, there's been a Bush, Dole, or Nixon on every Republican ticket going back to 1952.

He's going to be the Ross Perot of 2008, giving us a Clinton Presidency.

Sadly, I agree with you.

And, picking up on my post above, if it really came down to a split liberal vote with conservatives only being able to define the winner, that makes a conservative nominee the most electable so they don’t stay home. :-)

If he steals votes, it won’t be from the GOP.

“Has he got enough money to actually buy the Presidency?”

Well the common wisdom is that you’ll need $200 million. Bloomberg can spend five times that.

And still keep his Upper East Side mansion.

He should be honest. If he is going to change parties, may as well be totally honest and change to Democrat.

Woohoo, that’s got to hurt the Dems more if he runs for prez. No self respecting conservative would ever vote for him anyway unless his opponent was even more liberal than he is.

“He should be honest. If he is going to change parties, may as well be totally honest and change to Democrat.”

He’s not interested in honesty. He’s interested in winning a three horse race.

Hillary has asked for a meeting with Bloomberg to show him her friends program otherwise known as the Vincent Foster amnesty.
Once forgiven, you’ll never need forgiving again.
