Bloomberg no longer a Republican

Associated Press

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg left the Republican Party on Tuesday and switched to unaffiliated, a move certain to be seen as a prelude to an independent presidential bid that would upend the 2008 race.

The billionaire former CEO, who was a lifelong Democrat before he switched to the Republican Party in 2001 for his first mayoral run, said the change in his voter registration does not mean he is running for president.

"Although my plans for the future haven't changed, I believe this brings my affiliation into alignment with how I have led and will continue to lead our city," Bloomberg said.

The 65-year-old mayor has increasingly been the subject of speculation that he will run as an independent in 2008, despite his repeated promises to leave politics after the end of his term in 2009. He has fueled the buzz with increasing out-of-state travel, a greater focus on national issues and repeated criticism of the partisan politics that dominate Washington.

This is a breaking news update. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

an independent presidential bid that would upend the 2008 race.

Are these people serious? This muppet is going to "upend" the presidential race?

The New York media needs to get out more. This guy is a nothing. His run will be the most expensive ego trip in history, and when it's over, he'll still be nothing.

I agree, and that’s kind of my point. The same syndrome would develop with Rudy, if not amongst the base, at least amongst the GOP in Congress.

Indeed! And may his possible decision to run for President harm the liberal democrat party.

Bloomberg is a socialist who has been hell-bent on his mission to destroy America.

Unfortunately, this pinheaded nitwit is joining a large company of like-minded socialist/communists.

Like I said, a Bloomberg candidacy would doom the GOP.

SurveyUSA pits New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg against the top three Republicans (Giuliani, McCain, Romney) and top two Democrats (Clinton, Obama) in 16 key states and makes these observations:

Bloomberg is not yet running, and has not yet spent any of his fortune, but at this hour, a Bloomberg 3rd-Party candidacy hurts Republicans.

Bloomberg siphons enough Republican votes to flip red states Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, and New Mexico blue.

There are two instances in which a Bloomberg 3rd-Party run flips a blue state to red, compared to 27 instances where a red state flips to blue.

Should Bloomberg enter the race, and should Bloomberg begin to spend money, and should Bloomberg begin to form non-traditional coalitions, these dynamics may well alter. For now, his candidacy helps color more of the map blue.

I sure like to think that most folks know Bloomy well but I just saw an overnight on fox news that indicated a bit otherwise. Most of us here know what a creature Bloomy is and we ascribe such knowledge to others. This is a natural human trait however we may be mistaken. We must ensure that the folks know what Bloomy is so that his effect will be on the Dims and not the good God fearing patriots in America.

Very true — fun is the point of missions! ;-)

So, did you and the girls have fun today?

As for the lefties, sometimes you can have fun with them. As an example, the other day I was in the Village and the DNC had a few dried up, older women patrolling the sidewalks with clipboards and haranguing people. They kept approaching people and badgering them to “help the DNC.” The one who got in my face demanded to know if I wanted to help the Democrats take back the White House, so I decided to have a little fun. I stood there for a minute and looked like I was contemplating the question, then scrunched up my face and said “Nah!”

Yes, I am easily amused. :-)

Now that is what I call FUN WITH LEFTIES!!!!! Good for you.

The girls had a blast today, it rained most of the day and so they played dress up. It was an interesting fashion show to say the least :)

Tomorrow they will be policing up the mess they left today before we had to go out, and then we will do all the planting we were unable to do today because of the rain.

Manhattan is *always* a target-rich environment for mocking lefties. :-)

Fashion show? Sounds fun! Did they do hair and makeup, too?

Gee, and I actually don’t miss living in NYC, I wonder why? LOL!!!

And yes, of course they did hair and makeup.......and yes they will be cleaning the bathroom tomorrow.

Yes, they made a mess, but they were bouncing around here, prancing in their “outfits” and not sitting in front of the TV or a computer game, so I’m happy.
