Huge Fire Sends Oil Into Spokane River

SPOKANE, Wash. — An enormous fire destroyed buildings at a fuel
distribution center, sending thousands of gallons of gasoline,
diesel fuel and other petroleum products into storm sewers and the
Spokane River, officials said Tuesday.

A day after the blaze rocked Whitley Fuel LLC with several
explosions, damaging surrounding businesses and vehicles with its
flames, the state Department of Ecology tried to assess the
contamination Tuesday.

“We have no idea how much oil escaped,” said Jani Gilbert, an
Ecology spokeswoman. Crews were using a vacuum truck to suck oil out
of sewers, she said.

A helicopter was hired to fly along the Spokane River on Tuesday,
looking for pooled pockets of oil, Gilbert said. Crews were also
walking along the river looking for oil.

The fire, which investigators called suspicious, continued to burn
Tuesday morning, although it was no longer in danger of spreading,
fire officials said.

Snipped.................

The cause of the fire, which did at least $10 million in damage,
remains under investigation, the Spokane Fire Department said.
Federal arson investigators and Spokane police said they were
treating the area as a crime scene.

E.coli cases this week along with a large Michigan firm’s beef recall.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/under-investigation/message/5894

Pipeline ruptures - Canada and Washington State, Electricity issues, San Fran, NJ, the other day the Nevada airport, Botulism case and massive recall, the report issued about the IED’s and pre-attack practice runs, chemical plant incidents and the train derailments (carrying hazardous materials), rocket launchers, explosive finds and the like. I’ve posted over 200 incidents on the site in the past week.

I’ve noticed a pattern with these events, seem to travel in at least 3 incidents within a day or two. Airline traffic seems okay today, but last week there were nationwide delays that don’t make sense to me.

There indeed is a puzzle...too many pieces for them all to be unrelated imo.

Fire Investigators Look into Suspicious Car Fire

“As the guard got closer, he noticed the fire was coming from a
towel that had been stuffed in the gas tank.” Just doesn’t get any
more suspicious than this...

An incident early Monday morning could have been a lot worse without
the quick thinking of a Savannah apartment complex security guard.

About 2:30am, the guard at Montgomery Landings Apartments in the 700
block of West 57th Street spotted flames coming from the back of a
Buick parked in the lot.

As the guard got closer, he noticed the fire was coming from a towel
that had been stuffed in the gas tank. He feared the car might blow
up and set off the fire alarm for the nearby buildings to get
residents out to safety.

When Savannah firefighters arrived, the fire had burned itself out.
They examined the evidence and called for an investigator.

No one was injured.

6 back to back outages.

Thanks to HAL9000

6 back-to-back power outages hit the SOMA neighborhood of San
Francisco Tuesday afternoon causing major havoc with popular web
services. 365 Main is down, along with craigslist, Netflix,
Technorati, Yelp, AdBrite and SixApart.
Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is currently working on the issue.
It is now estimated that over PG&E 51,000 customers are with out
power.

So the big question, where is the backup power at the data centers
used by these services?

UPDATE 1: Digg is still up

UPDATE 2: Some services, like Technorati are starting to come back
online.

Series of electrical fires knock out power in NJ

Electrical fires knock out power temporarily in Northfield
By ELAINE ROSE Staff Writer, (609) 272-7215
Published: Tuesday, July 24, 2007
NORTHFIELD — One county building was evacuated and several traffic
lights went out of service Monday afternoon as a series of small
electrical fires affected power lines, police said.
A fire in the kitchen building of the county complex on Shore Road
was reported at about 2:26 p.m., police said. The origin was in a
generator in the mechanical room, and damage was minor.

But about 50 people were evacuated from that building and a portion
of another structure, police Lt. Arthur Fadden said.

Meanwhile, a county employee reported a second fire on the third
floor of another building in the complex, also in a generator,
police said. An employee put that fire out with a fire extinguisher.

At the same time, traffic lights were reported out on New Road at
the intersections of Jackson Avenue and Cedarbridge Road, and
officers were called out to direct traffic, police said. Additional
power outages caused traffic lights on Tilton Road, at the
intersections of New Road and Zion Road, to fail. More officers were
called to staff those areas.

A third fire was then reported on the 1700 block of Zion Road,
again electrical in nature, police said.
In all cases, power was restored within an hour, police said.
Atlantic City Electric is investigating the cause of the fires.

Gas Line Rupture Forces Evacuations In Gettysburg

POSTED: 8:20 am EDT July 24, 2007
UPDATED: 3:08 pm EDT July 24, 2007

GETTYSBURG, Ohio — Authorities in Darke County evacuated about a
four-block area of homes Tuesday morning after a natural gas leak
was reported.

The incident happened near the intersection of George and Factory
streets in the village of Gettysburg.

Investigators said the leak was caused after a vehicle hit a gas
meter and then fled the scene.

Deputies and firefighters were flooded with calls about a gas leak
and an explosion.

Deputies and firefighters arrived at the scene and discovered that
what people thought was an explosion was the combination of the
car’s impact and the initial rush of leaking natural gas.

Firefighters called in Vectren crews to shut off the gas line to
avoid a real explosion. They decided to evacuate a four-block area
around the gas leak.

Vectren crews arrived and isolated the gas leak and shut it off.

Once the gas line was shut off, residents were allowed to return to
their homes.

At this time, deputies are looking for a small gray car, possibly a
Mazada with temporary tags. If the driver is found, that person
could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident and maybe
inducing panic.

6 Guilty in N.Y. Military Weapons Case
By LARRY NEUMEISTER
Associated Press Writer

July 24, 2007, 4:14 PM EDT

NEW YORK — An Armenian immigrant accused of plotting to sell anti-
aircraft missiles and other military weapons from the former Soviet
Union to an FBI informant was convicted Tuesday along with five co-
defendants.

Artur Solomonyan could face up to life in prison on charges
including arms trafficking conspiracy, firearms trafficking
conspiracy, interstate firearms trafficking and illegal transfer and
possession of a machine gun.

The charges accused the men of conspiring from December 2003 to
March 2005 to import shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles, rocket-
propelled grenade launchers, anti-tank guided missiles and machine
guns without a license.

The weapons were “all designed to shoot down airplanes in the sky,
all designed to pierce through armored tanks,” Assistant U.S.
Attorney Marc P. Berger said his closing argument.

Berger said the motivation was greed.

“They were opportunists. They were money makers,” he told jurors.

Solomonyan’s lawyer, Louis V. Fasulo, told the jurors the case was
set up to entrap his client, who was merely leading on a government
informant who had promised to get him a green card.

“It is patently unfair for the government to entrap an individual in
a desperate situation,” he said.

The only weapons actually delivered in the case were a dozen
firearms, including a machine gun.

Sentencing for all six men was set for Dec. 14.

charities were all funding Hezbollah’s war on Israel, last year,
murdering countless Israeli soldiers and civilians. Al-Mabarat
raised about $1 million in revenue in 2004, its last year of tax
filing, all of which was sent to Hezbollah. And FYI, its
Dearbornistan-based officers are Fouad T. Beydoun, Ahmad J. Bazzi,
and Nazem Baydoun, of the Hezbollah operative Beydoun/Baydoun and
Bazzi/Bazzy families from South Lebanon.

Al Mabarrat’s Lebanese Website Features Its Leader, Hezbollah
Spiritual Leader Fadlallah
BUT . . . unfortunately, the FBI is holding an apology-fest with
extremist Muslim leaders. Can you imagine J. Edgar Hoover holding a
an apology session with Al Capone’s fellow mob family members? And
unfortunately, the FBI tipped off Islamic Terrorist Imad Hamad,
making him their community point man (that means that charity
members were tipped off ahead of time, too; bet on it):

A search warrant was executed at the Goodwill office, according to
Imad Hamad, regional director of the American-Arab Anti-
Discrimination Committee. . . .
Also, the FBI is holding a meeting this afternoon with Muslim
leaders at the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights to
discuss the raids, according to Dawud Walid, head of the Michigan
branch of the Council on American Islamic Relations.

The meeting will include Imam Mohammed Elahi [an agent of Iran and
Hezbollah], who heads the mosque, and Walid.

If I were in the Iranian government or Hezbollah, I’d be LMAO
(laughing my ass off) at the stupid Federal Bureau of Infidels, my
dhimmis.

BREAKING: FBI Raids Dearbornistan Hezbollah Charity, But Lets Many
Others Remain Open for Biz

By Debbie Schlussel

**** UPDATE: Making my point even more, I looked up GCO’s tax
returns. On its latest return, 2005, the charity reported (assuming
they didn’t lie and that’s a big assumption) only $176,693 in funds
distributed, compared with millions sent to terrorists by the
charities I list below—LRD and Al-Mabarat—which the FBI allows to
remain in business. FYI, GCO’s officers are Mike Safiedine (of the
gas-station owning Safeidine family), Hussein Hammoud (of the famous
Hammoud Hezbollah supporting, cigarette-smuggler clan), and Ahmad
Jaawar. When will the FBI arrest them and freeze their assets?
Hazimi Accounting Service, Inc. was the charity’s “accountant,” FYI.
****

Show Raid:
FBI Raids Piddling Hezbo/HAMAS Charity, But Keeps Others Open for Biz
The FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit want your kudos
for raiding the Dearbornistan-based Goodwill Charitable Organization
(GCO) on Warren Avenue, this morning. It is an arm of the Martyrs
Foundation, funding Hezbollah, HAMAS, and Islamic Jihad, and helped
fund Hezbollah in last year’s Hezbollah-Israel war. It is tied to Al-
Qard Al-Hassan, a terrorist-financing organization.

But while the charity is now designated as a Specially Designated
Global Terrorist Entity by the Department of Treasury, the FBI in
Michigan continues to allow LIFE For Relief and Development (LRD)
and Al-Mabarat Charitable Organization to remain open for business
in Metro Detroit, as I’ve repeatedly noted on this site. LRD openly
funded HAMAS to the tune of millions and is believed to be funding
Al-Qaeda terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and elsewhere.
Al-Mabarat is headed by Hezbollah spiritual leader Sheikh Mohammed
Hussein Fadlallah and sends millions back to Hezbollah in South
Lebanon.

Why won’t the FBI touch these? While the agency raided LRD almost a
year ago, they haven’t done a thing to LRD and U.S. Attorney Stephen
Murphy III a/k/a “Abu Porno” continues to hang out with LRD officers
and officials. He’s refused to shut them down, while they continue
to apparently fund those who blow up our soldiers.

So, while the FBI tipped off its favorite ass-kissers in the press
at the Detroit Newsistan and resident Islamist Niraj Warikoo at the
Detroit Free Press, and while it makes headlines, the agency is
doing NOTHING when it comes to larger charities sending millions to
Islamic terrorists from their Metro Detroit bases.

No kudos from me for the FBI raiding small potatoes for headlines,
but turning a blind eye to major players dealing gazillions to
Islamic mass-murderers of our troops and others.

While the government has frozen Goodwill Charitable Organization’s
assets, it refuses to do so for LRD and Al-Mabarat—like fighting
one tumor only and allowing the rest of the cancer to metastasize.

FBI Special Agent Mark Green—one of the agents who works the
Hezbollah beat in Michigan—I know you’re reading. So why won’t you
raid Al-Mabarat and freeze its assets? Is this part of a deal with
Sheikh Fadlallah not to make waves?”

Update...
Rape Suspect Also Accused of Abusing 18-Month-Old
Tuesday, July 24, 2007

E-MAIL STORY PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION

www.foxnews.com

Mahamu Kanneh
ROCKVILLE, Md. — A second child whom Maryland rape suspect Mahamu
Kanneh was accused of molesting was 18 months old, according to case
documents uncovered Tuesday.

Kanneh was indicted in December 2005 on nine counts of rape, sex
abuse and child abuse related to allegations involving Kanneh’s two
nieces. But 2 1/2 years later — last Tuesday — a judge dismissed his
case on the grounds that his rights to a speedy trial had been
violated.

The case was complicated further because Kanneh spoke a Liberian
dialect, Vai. He also spoke English, but a court-appointed
psychologist who interviewed him recommended that Kanneh should have
an interpreter, and the court agreed. However, interpreters were
hard to come by:

Loretta Knight, a clerk with the court system in Montgomery County,
Md., has said she had been unable to find an interpreter to stay on
the case, even after an exhaustive search that included the Liberian
Embassy and courts in 47 states.

On July 17, however, an interpreter was in the court translating the
proceedings for Kanneh when Montgomery County Circuit Judge
Katherine Savage dismissed Kanneh’s case only days before it was set
to go to trial.
Prosecutor Appeals After Judge Drops Rape Charges Against Liberian
Over Lack of Interpreter In connection with the toddler, Kanneh was
charged with one count of sexual abuse of a minor, and one count of
third-degree sexual offense. The other seven counts of the case —
which included second-degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor and
second- and third-degree sex offense — related to a 7-year-old. Both
girls were nieces, according to court documents.

Monday, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said the
delays were the court’s fault because it was unable to make sure
interpreters were present, not any fault of his office. He added
that interpreters were able to appear on four other occasions
throughout the case. He vowed to fight the ruling in the state’s
appellate system, reinstate the charges and take the case to trial.

A spokesman for the McCarthy’s office on Tuesday said he was
confident the courts would rule in the prosecutors’ favor but
declined to say what would happen if they lost the appeal.

“We are confident we are going to prevail, and we’re not going to
deal in hypotheticals of defeat,” spokesman Seth Zucker said.

FOX News’ Gretchen Gailey and Greg Simmons contributed to this
report.

Breaking from Congressman Peter King. The whistleblower protection
remains in the Homeland Security bill. This is the amendment that
protects citizens from lawsuits if they report suspicious activity
such as the flying imams. This is good news.

July 24, 2007, 7:55 PM EDT

SCOTIA, N.Y. (AP) _ About 3,000 gallons of aviation fuel was spilled
Tuesday within the pump station at Stratton Air National Guard Base,
Military officials said.

The fuel was spilled at about 3 p.m., officials said. Base
personnel, including the Stratton Air National Guard Fire Department
responded to the scene and managed to contain virtually all of the
fuel within the building.

Large amounts of the fuel were re-pumped into an available tanker
truck.

No injuries or apparent environmental effects were reported.

The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response Team
was called to evaluate the mishap and response.

The cause of the incident, which was apparently mechanical in
nature, is under investigation by base environmental officials.

UK removes Mahan Air (Iran) licence over safety issues

The UK has suspended Iranian airline Mahan Air`s operating permit on
safety
grounds, the Department for Transport (DfT) has said. The DfT said
Mahan
had been involved in incidents which suggested a poor level of
operational
control and planning.
It also cited poor safety control, including some aircraft operating
without
collision avoidance systems. (BBC)
