When the act of design happens is irrelevant to the detection of design. Just like when a murder is conceived in the mind.

“it simply stops asking questions” - it asks a lot of questions natural-selection does not ask. Darwinists called DNA that does not code for proteins “junk”, the human appendix, coccyx, tonsils, etc. vestigial leftovers from evolution.

It’s kind of odd, considering that Darwinists have stopped asking, that they continue doing the researdh that ID proponents try to turn against them, While ID has been around in its present form for two hundred years and has done exactly no research.
