Some can, some probably can’t.

REALLY tough question.

Note that the question implies that you must answer that either ALL can change or NONE can change.

I’m not sure that there is a simple Yes or No answer to this. My gut feeling is that for most the answer is probably “No”, but that there are some who are enough “in the middle” that they can kind of go in either direction.

Probably about as much as heterosexuals could change their orientation, if they wanted to.

It's pretty much like the question:

Do you think alcoholics can stop drinking if they want to?

It’s a dumb poll. Why would they want to change if they like what they are doing? It should have said “do you believe homosexuality is hereditary or is it learned behavior?”

Insanely stupid wording.

Could they clap their hands and change their orientation? No. Is homosexual behavior a product of environment and mindset, as opposed to genetic inheritance? Largely yes. Can a mentally healthy person refrain from homosexual acts? Absolutely.

I don't care about orientation (though I do think it can be changed). What I would like to see is a change in their behavior -- and I know that people can change that.

Homosexual acts are wrong. The lifestyle is wrong.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes! However, most do not want to.

Ask a gay person if they are willing to give up their way of life in exchange for being straight. The answer is usually a resounding 'no'. However, it is also a resounding admission that they have a choice.

Homosexuality is a behavior. It is a learned behavior. It is an addictive behavior.

Can a drug addict change their ways if they wanted to? Can an alchoholic change his ways if he wanted to? Can a porn addict change his ways if he wanted to? Substitute as many addictive behaviors as you want into the question.

I believe homosexuality is caused by human’s perversion of something that God created to be good and “normal”. The same question could be asked: “do you think a rapist could stop raping if he wanted to?” humans have gone so far in their “sensual/sexual” desires and they always want more… more… more… greed perverts. You might also ask: “can a man have sex with just one woman for the rest of his life?”… the answer is yes he can… does he want to? Usually “no”. and the more of the “forbidden fruit” that he has… the more he wants… a little “freakier” each time… a little more “perverse” the next time… then it’s perverted (in some jacked up cases) all the way to children and even to animals….

Some can, some probably can’t.

REALLY tough question.

It is a tough question and I am inclined to agree that many can't.

My primary problem with the whole subject is the leftist agenda to push and promulgate homosexuality. I do have no doubt that a significant amount of "bi-sexual" experimentation at the early teenage level is society and peer driven. I object strenuously with encouraging this.

If someone is gay and it's for real, so what. Live and let live as long as I don't have to put up with this damn IN YOUR FACE crap. And the political agenda of special rights.

And my observations suggest that many women can, and many men can’t.

Lesbians tend to be so based on external factors and political factors that can be addressed in other ways.

But almost always, gay men are just, so GAY, and the ones I know well have basically always been gay.

Who knows? And I don’t think it matters.

If you’re homosexual, that’s your business. But don’t demand that government jump through hoops in an effort to tailor-fit you with special rights so you feel good about your particular proclivity.

It should have said “do you believe homosexuality is hereditary or is it learned behavior?”

I could believe it to be hereditary but the homosexual community is notorious for its rampant promiscuity with multiple partners so that leads me to believe that it is merely a perverse sexual addiction to a once stigmatized sexual practice. Go into any homosexual bar and you can have sex on the spot..........

Wrong question.

Could gay people have orgasms with members of the opposite sex?

Could gay people refrain from sex with people of the same gender

Could a gay person “fall in love” with a member of the opposite sex?

The answer to all three of those is YES. Falling in love is not restricted to members of the opposite sex. Gay people have the same physical reactions to stimulation as straight people. Gay men have had children with wives.

So there is no reason a gay man couldn’t fall in love with a woman who he was not “physically attracted to”, but still have sex with her and be physically satisfied, and refrain from sex with men (just like millions of unmarried people refrain from sex with all people, and millions of married people refrain from sex with any other people they are physically attracted to).

We lose the argument when we accept the false notion that people have some natural right to have sex with anything they are attracted to, or that it is essential that people be allowed to be joined with people they are physically attracted to.

And...they have already made the decision one way, can't be any harder to change back.

After all, it's not genetic nor is it instinct.

I’ve seen a lot of married men suddenly claim they are “gay”. Of course, they all say they’ve always been that way and were living a lie, but a lot of women seem really shocked to find out their husbands weren’t really attracted to them, so who knows?

On the female side, there is a LOT MORE ambiguity, with many “lesbians” actually claiming they are bi-sexual, bouncing back and forth between male and female relationships. The physical contact is pretty much the same in either case, so that’s not an issue, it’s just what the woman can find herself tolerating.

We read about women “discovering” they were lesbian in their 30’s. That suggests it isn’t something you are born with.

I think people can be trained to be attracted to anything, and a lot of “gayness” is people who just become too withdrawn to the opposite sex, and find it easier to be attracted to people of their own sex.

Exactly.

If a heterosexual man marries, has kids, then, after 20 years of marriage, decides to explore being gay, the homosexuals applaud this man’s “awakening.” They argue he was gay all along, but the multiple heterosexual partners over his life fly in the face of that argument.

If you *ever* suggested that a homosexual might want to explore his heterosexual side, you are a “homophobe.” (I hate that term - disagreeing with something is NOT fear of that thing.)

Now...

I can say that YES a homosexual can absolutely change their sexual orientation. Barring the aforementioned example where we went from not gay to gay, I have personally witnessed lesbians “turn.” These are typically larger, goofy girls who just want to be loved. When no man will have them, they declare themselves lesbians to obtain the love that all humans crave. Later, when they suddenly find a man who loves them, they switch back to hetero.

That’s not “bi.” That’s sexual orientation of convenience. Whatever works at the time.

Again, I have personally known people who have made this change. (More than one.)

“We lose the argument when we accept the false notion that people have some natural right to have sex with anything they are attracted to...”

Yeah. Exactly.

Sexual preference is something of a joke. What if you “prefer” little kids? Or my dog? And don’t tell me my dog isn’t capable of consenting and a willing partner - he’s busy humping your leg. Gross, but true.

If a male homosesual can father children though conventional sexual performance, would not that mean he was bi-sexual and his orientation towards other males is a choice or preference as opposed to a biological compulsion that cannot be changed?

I love the use of polls to prove “TRUTH”.

At one time, the majority of people thought that the earth was flat, that the Sun Revolved around the Earth, and that veins and arteries were filled with air.

Today the majority of people believe that behavior (in this case homosexual) defines your rights, the Earth is getting warmer, and that polls define scientific fact.

Sad how little has changed....

A man can shave his legs, put on a wig and a dress, and probably pick up a man at any bar and perform oral sex. Does that make the other man gay, because a gay man performed a gay sex act?

If “gay” was genetic, it would mean people were attracted to something about the chromosone set of a gender, and could detect that regardless of what a person looked like or wore.

If a man instead is attracted to the dress a person is wearing, what does that mean for being “gay”?

Or as I like to ask other gays, is gay sex a choice, or are there just a lot of gay people committing crimes? Because it seems there’s a lot of gay sex in our prisons. If a heterosexual man can choose to be “gay”, why not the other way around?

This is a ludicrous question. This is like asking beastophiles, pederasts, rapists and necrophiles if they can alter their behavior. We have prisons full of deviants who are there because they can’t or won’t alter their behavior while the rest of society alters their behavior and/or their orientation to stay within the law.

My own theory is that there are two types of homosexuals: hardwired and acclimated.

The hardwired homosexual became so in the womb, due to whatever hormones were floating around his mother's system.

The acclimated homosexual is one whose first sexual experiences (either consensual experimentation or by being molested) were homosexual. Like a baby duck adopting the first living creature it sees as its mama, people get imprinted by their first sexual experiences.

The hardwired ones can't change.

The acclimated ones can.

It is my opinion that the majority of homosexuals are not hardwired.
