defeat of President Bush's plans for an immigration overhaul has set back their dreams of a normal life

Tough. If a "normal life" in the US is their "dream," they should have followed the rules.

The bill, which sought to give legal status to many of the 12 million undocumented immigrants living...

The is no such thing as in "undocumented immigrant"! Immigrants are those good folks who stand in line and enter the country legally. It is an absolute insult to put them in with the illegal invaders these twits are talking about!

Hopes dashed for many All Illegal

immigrant workers (gag alert)

There.
I fixed it.

Legal immigrants from everywhere, including Mexico and other Latinos have the same hopes as all Americans, thankyouverymuch...

PHOENIX - For day laborers seeking work in a sun-baked parking lot on Thursday, defeat of President Bush's plans for an immigration overhaul has set back their dreams of a normal life.

It not far to the boarder and he can be as normal as any other fine citizen of Jorge's beloved Mexico.

"We are illegals, we are just trash to them, and we'll just have to carry on here in the shadows hiding from everyone," said Sosa, 58, who has raised four children since arriving in the United States 14 years ago.
"I have neither a voice or a vote, except when I pay fines or taxes," he added as traffic roared by in the street.

Fines and taxes...has this man ever considered the cost of the K-12 education of his kids? At $10,000 annually, the total cost is in excess of $500,000 to the U.S. taxpayer. So, he did get his money back, plus tax refunds and other benefits.

Now, nobody is forcing him to live "in the shadows," as he puts it. He can go through the legal channels for immigrating to the States, like my parents and every other legal immigrant here. However, apparently Mr. Sosa believes that he is above the law and that citizenship is something that he is entitled to receive.

Reality check: U.S. citizenship and living here is a privilege that is earned, not given away.

I am sure glad my parents came here legally.

Funny how reporters can find these people in the 'shadows' while they stand right out in the open complaining about our country.

Why aren't they being arrested and deported for breaking the law!

“Americans are seen as pale and naive versions of the landowners of mexico who have revelled in their lordship over peons for centuries.”

Not since yesterday, we’re not......Congress started getting in touch with that while many of them tried to keep up that impression to their hopeful new constituents who they wanted to buy with OUR dollars......but now the game plan is changed and if we’re vigilant enough, Messico will remain Messico and likewise for America and Canada.

>> I’d suggest they return HOME and “normalize” Mexico.

Good point. Why wouldn’t Mexico want to have it’s hard working risk takers in it’s homeland? /r

Now, that’s so unfair. You can’t call anywhere for a quarter anymore. That’s why we have to provide him with a taxpayer funded cell phone, don’t you know.

The bill, which sought to give legal status to many of the 12 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, failed to get enough support in a make-or-break vote.

How can that be???

I don't understand it, because there is NO such a thing as an "undocumented immigrant", hello please!

We are extremely very well documented, we have to spend a lot of time and supply "tons" of documents during the process of scrutiny, before you can be called an IMMIGRANT!!

Like the mehico's coyotes, when they take the law into their own hands and ILLEGALLY sneaks over the border, then the correct title is ILLEGAL aliens who are rather CRIMINALS by disobeying the U.S. immigration laws. It is that simple!!!

If this immigration bill, which would have cost $2.5 trillion or more over the next 2 decades, passed, would the media have said:

Hopes dashed for many taxpayers

I think not.
