Watkins said the men then planned a robbery, and Conely directed Watkins to the women's apartment. Watkins said he didn't know Conely had a gun,

Sounds like a single-action-only semi (1911 or similar)? She wouldn’t have this problem with, say, Sig P232 or P229 DAK or Glock 17 or 19. Then again, maybe the reporter got it wrong?

In the first sentence, an “apparent robbery turned violent”? Robbery is violent to start with. That a gun came into play didn’t make it violent. The gun prevented further violence. Reporter bias noted.

That's why my wife and I carry .38 revolvers. No safety, no problem. We were both a little scared of the "safety on the trigger" on Glocks, so we opted for the point and shoot convenience of revolvers.
