Glock is the AD of firearms. Not quite. Those were negligent discharges due to the four rules of gun safety not being followed. Follow all four rules and you won't have a problem. I have a Glock because it is fairly inexpensive (with LEO discount) and utterly reliable. I have more expensive pistols, like my HK USP Compact 40 and the safety is always off. In that condition it is even more susceptible to NDs if not properly handled. But again, follow the four rules and you should never have an ND.

Watkins said he didn't know Conely had a gun, according to the charging documents.... Conely must have had the rifle hidden in his pocket.

Everyone involved in this incident keeps really weird hours. No kidding. Who in their right mind goes to bed that early?

Glock is the AD of firearms. A cop shot her wrist off a few weeks ago due to the "safe" trigger. A police chief shot his finger off a month ago. There are special NY-1 triggers for NY City cops. She shot her wrist off because she didn't follow rules number one and two of gun safety. He shot his finger off for the same reason. Just because some idiot cops don't know how to safely handle any firearm at all doesn't mean that the firearm is the problem. The NY-1 trigger is a lame attempt to compensate for stupidity, and it apparently doesn't work too well when people still put their fingers on the trigger and point the gun at themselves.

When I was in my 20’s 3 am was about my bedtime too. If I didn’t have a family & responsibilities it probably still would be.

Not necessarily. All some of these uneducated idiots need is to have heard it somewhere. “Pookie said.....” is all some of these fools have to go on.

To my knowledge, the US military does not authorize Glocks. Navy SEALS, FBI, Texas Rangers use Sigs and HKs. They have DA/SA trigger configurations or DAK and LEM configurations. 36 posted on 07/02/2007 7:41:01 PM MDT by Cobra64
Not if LEOs would follow the NRA safe gun handling rules:
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction Always keep your finger of the trigger until ready to shoot
Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use

The cop who shot her wrist had a Glock under her pillow. Pretty stupid. The odds of that AD/ND (you decide) happening would have been less if she were doing the same stupid thing with a DA/SA decocked.
My three Sigs and HK are all DA/SA with decockers.

Read my post. It said "AD."
My point was that I believe that having one in the pipe of a Glock is more susceptable to an AD. IMO. I have nothing against Glocks. I prefer something different: DA/SA.
And I don't want to get into a Glock vs. Other Brand pissing contest.

There is no such thing as an accidental discharge. A negligent discharge is caused by either ignorance or carelessness.
The person can be considered ignorant, if they have not been trained.
They are careless, if they disregard their training.

That's why my wife and I carry .38 revolvers. No safety, no problem. We were both a little scared of the "safety on the trigger" on Glocks, so we opted for the point and shoot convenience of revolvers. That's what I have too. Does your wife have a hard time racking a gun? I've wondered if other women had a difficult time racking a gun. I can't do it since I had surgery on my hand, so I keep my trusty Colt by my bed, along with a couple of shotguns. I carry the 38 also.

Yes, she definitely does. We qualified for CCW with semi-automatics, and she had a heck of a time racking it. She shot a few targets better than me, though.
To: Cobra64
The Glock with one in the pipe is also less susceptible to malfunctioning when you need it to go off when you pull the trigger. ;-)
