” This is not good. I have a kid flying home from Taipei today. I think his first stop is Tokyo.
Do you think they will close the airports down? “
We were fortunate . The phoon took a right turn at Miyazaki so all we got was peripheral winds and a little rain . Lucky .
Tokyo won’t get hit until tomorrow ( Sunday in Japan ) , and by the time it reaches there it will be downgraded to a tropical storm or less .
What are you expecting where you are located? Hope you stay safe and dry!
Thanks very much!
Thank you!
The wind is picking up and it’s pretty wet. The closest weather report from Yahoo is for Yokohama:
Today: Showery rains containing strong gusty winds and heavy downpours at times. High 79F. S winds shifting to WNW at 50 to 70 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall over 2 inches expected.
Tonight: Windy with rain and a few thunderstorms. Low near 75F. Winds WNW at 25 to 40 mph. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall possibly over one inch.
Tomorrow: Showers early then scattered thunderstorms developing later in the day. High 86F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
The dates on the weather underground track [in my above post] changed again. I think someone is confused over there. The earlier one, with the center near Tokyo at 3 PM Sunday (5.5 hours from now), made more sense than the one I see now, which says 3 PM Monday.
My kids are back home safely.
I hope everyone there is ok. What a terrible earthquake. Our best wishes are with y’all and is there anything we can do other than write heartfelt words?
Send money ! ; )
