This morning President Bush traveled to Landover, Maryland and toured Man And Machine Inc., a company that makes computer accessories for hospitals, medical laboratories, and industrial environments. Afterwards, the president joined a roundtable discussion of healthcare initiatives and how they should benefit the individual, not the government or insurance companies. (Transcript)

First Lady Laura Bush took part in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards ceremony in the East Room of the White House. (Transcript)
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with senators on Capitol Hill after their “all-nighter”. LOL
And former President George H. W. Bush spoke at the National Constitution Hall in Philadelphia, where he donated his WWII service revolver.

Ann...look on yesterdays Dose...I posted a pic of Jon re-enlisting....he sent me about 5 lol......Mike leaves here the 28th...sigh....we have started shopping and packing...he is going light this time...lol
I particularly enjoyed the story of GHWB's revolver.

Since we were on a train, we saw sights that others could not see and my daughter got loads of pictures.
We saw lots of wild animals including a moose and her baby. That was one of the things all of us wanted to see most and on the way to the museum in Jackson Hole, we saw them cross the road in front of the bus. I think I was most impressed with Montana. I have been interested in that state ever since my older brother was stationed in Great Falls back in the 1950's.
Old Faithful erupted right on schedule.
Everyone was spoiled on the train. We had a butler who woke us up every morning with a glass of juice, 5 course dinners at night and juice throughout the day. We all were very tired at the end.
While in Jackson Hole we stayed at the Jackson Lake Lodge which was special but the one night at the Wort Hotel was the best. It was right in town so we could walk to the shops. We saw the shootout on the square and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers which was very good. The actors and actresses came out in the lobby afterwords and we got to talk to them.
Our last train meal was at the museum in Jackson and it was very special. The guides told everyone that my grandson's 21st bd was on the 15th. He had already had a bottle of champagnes and chocolate covered strawberries on the train. I think he was the most popular person on the train. He played the piano when the train pianist was not playing. Several people wanted him to cut some CD's. He was playing one night when a train employee came up to him and started crying while listening to him. We do not know what that was all about! He is a very gifted pianist and has been composing songs since he was 5.
I think this trip was everything we expected and more. If you get the chance, go on this trip.

BOOK RECOMMENDATION
I just finished reading THE LONE SURVIVOR By Marcus Luttrell — an eyewitness account (Marcus) of Operation Redwing and the lost heroes of Seal Team 10 — and all I can say is WOW . . . This is a definite MUST READ!!
In the epilogue, Luttrell has this to say about his meeting with PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH:
“. . . I walked into the Oval Office. The president of the United States, GEorge W. Bush, stood up to greet me.
It’s an honor to meet you, sir,” I said.
And the president gave me that little smile of his, which I took to mean, we’re both Texans, right? And he said, a little bit knowlingly, “It’s my pleasure to meet you, son.”
I shook his hand, and he had a powerful handshake. And he looked me right in the eye with a hard, steady gaze. . . Our handshake was prolonged and, for me, profound. This was my commander in chief, and right now I had his total attention, as I would have every time he spoke to me. President Bush does that naturally, speaking as if there is no one else in the room for him. This was one powerful man.
I remember I wanted to tell him how all my buddies love him, believe in him, and that we’re out there ready to bust our asses for him anytime he needs us. But he knows that. He’s our guy.
. . . President Bush seemed to know what I was thinking. And he slapped me on the shoulder and said, “Thank you, Marcus. I’m proud of you, son.”
I have no words to describe what that meant to me, how much it all mattered.

I probably need both seeing as I spill things in mine and also am for ever dropping it.
It is great to see young people who are so focused on what they believe it gives one great hope for the future.
I seem to remember one and I think he has mentioned email before.
I’m just finishing the Reagan Diaries. Interesting how the seemingly mundane can be turn out to be so fascinating, especially when you can be omniscient and know what’s going to happen as the result of this or that action.
A few surprises, too.

Sounds wonderful I am so pleased you had a great time. Wyoming is one of the places that fascinates me a definite must visit one day place.
One of the people in WY said Jackson Hole is the airport that the VP uses when he comes to WY. She said everything shuts down when that happens. It is really a small airport. Actually, I liked that area of WY and the Grand Tetons better than Yellowstone. Of course, they run together, now. One other thing about JH. The town square has arches made of antlers! Very interesting. I bought a post card with them lighted for Christmas.
I apologize for not responding earlier...I just heard from my 86 yr. old Mom, that she was broken into while away getting her new teeth at the Dentists. Poor thing...they rummaged through EVERYTHING. I live so far away, and I can't do anything but assure her that they don't typically come back...it's just what they can find quickly for drug $.
It's so true. Thank the Lord above that W gets it on terror and that there are those in the country that will help protect us as they do. Heros all.

Seriously, God bless your son! Don’t mean to sound mushy but it is such a privilege to ‘know’ him...as well as, his parents. He’s always in my prayers and Mike will be too.

Ohhh, I am so sorry to hear what happened with your Mom.
I’m sure it was a shock for her to come home and find someone had gone through her belongings. My home was burglarized many years ago and, in addition to the fact that things were stolen, it’s a terrible feeling to know a stranger was in your home and going through your personal belongings. And, I’m sure it’s very hard for you....being so far away. Hopefully, there is someone nearby that she can trust and who can reassure her.
Ann....Jon’s time is getting short...he will be pulling out of Iraq in mid Sept and home by Oct....I’ve sent my last package...I think their mail will stop the end of August...did you see his pic...cute, isn’t he...lol
