A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 7-18-07

This morning President Bush traveled to Landover, Maryland and toured Man And Machine Inc., a company that makes computer accessories for hospitals, medical laboratories, and industrial environments. Afterwards, the president joined a roundtable discussion of healthcare initiatives and how they should benefit the individual, not the government or insurance companies. (Transcript)

President Bush returned to the White House this afternoon and met with the Import Safety Group. (Transcript)

First Lady Laura Bush took part in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards ceremony in the East Room of the White House. (Transcript)

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with senators on Capitol Hill after their “all-nighter”. LOL

And former President George H. W. Bush spoke at the National Constitution Hall in Philadelphia, where he donated his WWII service revolver.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Thanks, snugs. I’m planning on trying to go right away, or after the Freedom Concert on the 26th.

They didn't nickname them the Greatest Generation for nothing, THAT's for sure. She's really taking it well. It helped that we reminded her that the crook statistically doesn't come back to the scene of the crime...at least those that just want a couple bucks for drugs. They took her engagement ring though. It wasn't but a tiny little stone. Back in 1940, they didn't have much $ and Dad was off to war in 41. With him gone now, those types of possessions really mean a lot. Hubby just keeps saying, "I hate predators!" That sums it up...druggy jerks. She was supposed to be able to come home with new teeth and enjoy life FINALLY. Oh well, what goes around...

Thanks for your support. I feel so badly for her, but she is handling it well.

Thank you. FRiends are the best!

Did you see the story this morning about the guy that bought a brand new Hummer, and only had it a day or so, and ECO Vandals hit it with a baseball bat and broke windows, dented the sides, flattened the tires, and keyed "for the environment" in the paint.

How do people wreck brand new things???? I just couldn't do something like that--no matter what the circumstance.

I guess when all the music videos show girls keying cars and wrecking the insides of their ex-boyfriend's apartments after a break up...you can expect people to think that this type of behavior is okay. Warped.

Thanks again for your concerns for Mom, Purple.

Ha ha!

I lost the use of so many keys on my ergo board that I had to resort, again, to the standard one till I could get something ergo again. A friend found an ergo keyboard, sans touchpad, at the Goodwill for $3.00 for me. I need a piece of plywood cut to fit my pulled-out desk drawers so I'll have room for the mouse and then I should be almost as well off as before. For now, this is working and I am very happy not to have to search for b and B's any longer (and numerous other keys).

The flexi-boards look cool.

Regarding national health care:

"Aneurin Bevan, the SOCIALIST [emphasis mine] who created the National Health Service after World War II, was once asked to explain how he'd talked the country's doctors into agreeing to become state employees: "I stuffed their mouths with gold," he crowed."

I know what you mean about Jackson Hole. I haven’t been there for a long, long time. But when I last went there, I loved it! My kids were still young, and we walked along the boardwalks. I remember the arch made of antlers. There is a small-town feel about it. Many gift shops and art galleries. I’d like to go again sometime!

Another thing that is fun is the gondola ride up to the mountain. Once upon a time, there wasn’t much up there except the gondola station. Now, I believe they have a visitors’ station of some sort.

We loved all of the states we visited—WA, ID, MT, and WY. I was kind of disappointed in Yellowstone. Guess my expectations were too high since I have heard so much about it. I loved MT and WY. We only had one free day in JH so we did not have time to do very much. The people there seems very nice but I know the residents get tired of so many out of towner's making more traffic! We went in several galleries and enjoyed the paintings and pictures. We would have liked to buy some but boy they were out of my price range especially after this trip! I told my daughter that I would be eating bologna sandwiches for a while! I would not trade the experience for anything though. It rained the afternoon we were there so we just walked around getting wet! While we were waiting in line for 7 Brides we smelled smoke and later learned there was a fire in Yellowstone. At least that is what some people said. I want our next trip in the future to be in the NE—Maine, VT, NH, etc. That will be a loooong time in the future, though.
