The first sightings of the ark in more modern times took place in 1856 when a group of English scientists climbed the mountain to search for the Ark. They asked a young Armenian boy, Haji Yearman, and his father to guide them up the mountain and show them the ark of Noah. Haji Yearman and his father did just that!

This upset the scientists, because their object was to prove that the ark was not there. These scientists were atheists, and they tried to burn the ark. They said it would not burn, so they tried to destroy it, but they could not.

Then they treatened Haji Yearman and his father with persecution if they ever told of this expedition. The scientists themselves took a death oath that they would never disclose their findings of the ark.

After the death of Haji Yearman, Mr. Williams moved to Brockton, Massachusetts, where he read a newspaper account telling of an English scientist who on his death bed stated that as a young man in 1856 he and two other scientist climbed the mountain of Ararat and saw the ark of Noah. The article states that the other two scientists had died but that this gentleman was troubled because they threatened a young Armenian boy and his father with persecution, and he wanted to get this off his chest before he died. The two accounts coincide, authenticating the expedition which took place -- and the finding of the ark in 1856...

just one of many photos over the decades. I've been following this for many decades.

Since I have not had, personally, the experience and explorations these people have had - over a couple hundred years - nor talked with any of them nor seen their evidence "in person", I can't sit here and armchair a 'definite' yeah or nay.

But to cavalierly dismiss all these studies and reports seems a bit disingenuous, at the least.

Al Gore's next book, The Truth About Noah's Ark will prove that those English scientists really did find the ark in 1856.

It depends on what you call an ‘anomaly’.. that seems to be a granite upsurge where the softer rocks around it have eroded away. Nothing unusual there, you can see them in Colorado. At that, if you look behind the ‘anomaly’ you can see edges of several similar structures. The shape does seem odd in context of reading this into the story, but not when looked at in comparison to other geological formations.

In an age when you can see nekked wimmon on google earth, it seems like something as big an ark would be fairly easy to spot.

It’s also possible to buy high res photos of any spot you choose. A lot cheaper than climbing mountains, at least for narrowing down the search.

James Bryce, a British ambassador to Turkey, climbed the mountain in 1876 and found timbers. Now what is so important about finding wood on top of a mountain?

The wood found on this mountain is hand-hewn timber. Extremely hard and impregnated with a black substance, the wood is tooled, obviously a part of some building. It is buried in an ice cap, on top of a lava flow, upon a mountain where no trees are native to that mountain for a distance of 200 miles. If this timber is not from the ark, the interesting question is, what is the timber doing on top of this mountain? After having the timber examined, Bryce felt it was definitely from the ark of Noah

They've found Roman ships thousands of years old now, evidence that sailors may have been in the Mediterranean 14000 years ago, and the 'evidence' for Noah's Ark is a piece of wood on top of a mountain? Why is it some have to find physical evidence? Some sort of proof for the unbelievers? They could find a written tablet signed Noah and his three sons with a list of animals taken on the boat and many of the same would still not believe.

I just don't see the importance of it. I know what the Bible says happened and I believe that happened. Not sure how, or even how widespread the flood was but this reminds me of the story of Thomas. Is there an old boat up on top of a mountain? Don't know and really don't care. IF there is (and that's a big if) it probably belonged to one of the older cultures of the time in that region though and most likely not associated with the flood.

Does anyone ever take into consideration that the Bible originally doesn’t actually say the ark landed on ‘Mount Ararat’ but the ‘Mountains of Urartu’ (ie the entire range, not the specific mountain named Ararat (the Turks actually name it Agri Dagi.)

The name we call Ararat in the English translation of the Bible was assumed because the original text from the early copy said rrt and they made the association with the Ararat.

that is a different ‘site’ than the ararat anomaly..it is supposedly half under ice-broken in half ON the mountain, not a rock formation looking like a boat a bit near the mountains..

as I said, I'm in no position, in my armchair, to pronounce yes or no on these myriad studies and unexpected happenstances over the past more than 100 years - There are, of course, proponents on either side- certainly the atheists among us have a vested interested in pooh-poohing it.

But millions of dollars, myriad expeditions by many countries, civilian, military and government - have thought something was there.

Bottom line, I don't know. And I suspicion, neither do you -

Actually it’s not a band per se. It was a touring group of female performers. I did kinda think Lilith (in the “documentary”) was hot though. :o)

Agreed. That’s why I said I had no comment on the possible existence. I’m no atheist either, as an aside.

I can see my house quite well on it. Of course, my house has not been buried under ice half the year over and over again for thousands of years.
