This state is not for the faint hearted, weather wise!
I live “Deep in the Heart of Texas” (14 miles from the geographical center of the state, near Trickham). We have had over 35 inches of rain thus far this year. Annual norm is about 22 inches.

(Shoot low, they're crawling.)
17” of rain will get your attention.
Were you in San Antonio when they had 18” of snow one December day? The mayor shut the city down, since no one could get out.

I live a little further southeast than you, and we have had about 60 inches of rain this year so far. We normally have about 36 inches annually.
Killeen (the eastern border of Fort Hood) had 18 inches in a 24 hour period earlier in the summer.
