Three surgeons were bragging in a posh bar.
First Surgeon:
“A concert pianist lost seven fingers in an accident, I reattached them, and months later he performed a private concert for the Queen of England.”
The second surgeon said. “That’s nothing. A young man lost an arm and both legs in an accident, I reattached them, and 2 years later he won a gold medal in track and field events in the Olympics.
“The third surgeon said, “You guys are amateurs. Several years ago a
woman was high on cocaine and marijuana and she rode a horse head-on into a train traveling 80 miles an hour. All I had left to work with was the woman’s blonde hair and the horse’s ass. I was able to put them together and now she’s running for President.
Absolutely!
Telling them facts teaches them.
The pedophile/homosexual scandal of the Catholic Church is fact. Horrible fact.
However, joking about it, being snide about it, is not a lesson.
That my FRiend is teaching them to kick a person when he is down. That is not a lesson they need to learn.
I believe you. I'm sure that there have been many changes that have taken place in an effort to deal with this problem.
But rather than circle the wagons around your church's hierarchy, why not put the blame on them for allowing the problem to fester? Surely, there are people in positions of authority in the RCC as we speak who were enablers in this situation.
I used to be Catholic, and one of my problems with it is that it is still run like the European monarchy that it learned how to emulate during its formative years. Now I know that it will never be a democracy (people who like to run religion that way have already left to become Protestants), but at least the Catholic laity can try to make it a benevolent monarchy. Direct your indignation towards your bishops, cardinals, and pope, if you want to make a difference, because Jay Leno and those who employ him just don't care.
Communism killed over 100 MILLION people in the 20th Century, American abortuaries have killed over 20,000 people THIS WEEK -- where are these stories?
Maybe they can move him to another network where he can continue to do it.
Well, if the shoe fits...
I think you are white washing the matter to fit your needs. People have been telling jokes about bad priests for years and now you want to put a stop to it. That’s like disney taking out certain segments of their cartoons because a certain character might be seen as offensive to certain groups. Shame.
True, but I'm not sure I see the relevance unless your point is that no one should discuss one evil without mentioning all evils?
>>But rather than circle the wagons around your church’s hierarchy, why not put the blame on them for allowing the problem to fester? Surely, there are people in positions of authority in the RCC as we speak who were enablers in this situation.<<
There is not a single Catholic giving kudos to the hierarchy about this. Why do you think there is?
But constantly pegging ALL priests as sickos, gets old. I have priests in my family, but I need to smile sweetly as they are lumped in with the criminals.
It’s like when a person continually insults you and when you get upset, tell you that you can’t take a joke. Some people may think it’s funny. I don’t.
Queers are the pedophiles — it is part of the so-called lifestyle. The 1% of queers that invaded the priesthood did so to have access to young boys. Jay would do better by targeting Nambla members in the priesthood.
Well if you want to liken taking artwork out of a full length animated movie to the continual bashing of priests, I guess that’s your right.
However, I see no connection.
And you’re right, people HAVE been telling jokes about priests for years. All priests. Even those who did nothing wrong but be priests.
Evangelical Pastors too. And they have done NOTHING wrong.
My point is the from the highest levels the Church has acknowledged past problems, taken every possible step to rectify past wrongs (including spending hundreds of millions of dollars) and this doesn’t get reported or if it does it’s downplayed.
The Catholics have done a horrible job handling their bad priests and have earned their poor standing as Servants of God. Abusing your younger church members should never be accepted without lots of jail time, but not allowing your priests to marry (for no real good reason) is pointless.
I’m Catholic and I have no problem with this. Shame is a good thing. The Church has nobody to blame but themselves.
I couldn't disagree more. The spending of the money was not to FIX the problems, but rather to hush up the complaints. If they wanted to fix the problems, then the perverts would be in jail.
Many of them are, many more are dead.
>>People have been telling jokes about bad priests for years and now you want to put a stop to it. <<
No way!
They’re all flitting around happily while the Bishops sing their praises, Dontcha know.
And WTC 7 was demolished by the gov’t. But shhhhh, it’s a secret.
So how much shame is the right amount?
Any organization that doesn't seriously prosecute their pedophiles, deserves all the criticism they get & MORE.
