Clinton: Create Public Service Academy [a totally all-paid education to young men and women who....]

Clinton: Create Public Service Academy Jul 28 02:38 PM US/Eastern By PAGE IVEY Associated Press Writer COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton told college Democrats on Saturday she would create a national academy to train public servants.

"I'm going to be asking a new generation to serve," she said. "I think just like our military academies, we need to give a totally all-paid education to young men and women who will serve their country in a public service position."

An older woman carrying a sign that said "She doesn't care, all she wants is the power" yelled at Clinton while the New York senator was speaking in a ballroom on the University of South Carolina campus. Students attending the College Democrats of America convention shouted down the woman down and pushed her from the room.

"One of the things I love about politics, you never know what the day will bring," Clinton said.

Several people at the convention said they were inspired by Clinton's speech and her experience in public service after law school.

Clinton was an intern with the Children's Defense Fund, which advocates for minority, poor and disabled children.

"I loved her personal stories. ... It wasn't her generic speech," said Katelyn Porter, president of the College Democrats chapter at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.

Porter, who is from Boston and works for a nonprofit organization that helps low-income families, said she has not decided which Democratic candidate she will support. "But Hillary is definitely at the top of the list," she said.

The academy that I am most familiar with stresses several key areas of personal development. Among the more important ones are LEADERSHIP, ETHICS, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, FOCUSED ACTION LEADING TO DESIRED RESULTS, and SELFLESS DEVOTION TO GOD AND COUNTRY. Would someone please explain to me where such capabilities would be useful in public service the way our "public servants" provide it today???

With her negatives, she won’t be elected. But that is entirely different from her trying to STEAL the election.

Hello everyone,

While I appreciate the publicity that you have given the idea to build the U.S. Public Service Academy, I wish you and your readers would take some time to learn about this exciting project. Sen. Clinton may be talking about it on the campaign, but the idea is much bigger than her or her campaign.

I invite you to visit the Academy’s website:
http://www.uspublicserviceacademy.org
On the website, you may download our proposal and Draft Blueprint. When you read those documents, you just might learn why the last three superintendents of West Point have all endorsed the idea and why we receive so much support from the military. You might realize that this idea will make government more effective and efficient, not bigger.

I understand that many of you do not like Sen. Clinton. Please do not let your hatred of her blind you to an extraordinary American idea that can help make this country even greater.

Thank you,
Chris Myers Asch

Pure vomit. Just what we need, a professional public service sector which is given a free ride from age 18.

Yeah, that's what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

Hillary screaming - "I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we're Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration."

Even Hillary's?

Hello, Chris and welcome to FR.

Just about anything Hillary Clinton is for—is a bad idea for the United States of America. That’s not hatred of her—it’s just knowledgeable wariness about her agendae.

You of course have a vested interest in public support of the Academy—it’s your job and you seem right on top of it. I’ll not slam you for that. I’ll just point out other issues.

I am not in favor of free rides at public expense. Young people desiring to go into public service should serve at enterprise entry levels and bootstrap themselves up. That should be done via private enterprise, not via quasi-governmental Third Sector.

You say this will not make government bigger, only more effective. The reverse, you will find, is the truth. Subsidizing something increases it.

Such a program as your school’s is dreadfully likely to ease the way into lifelong public service for those who don’t have the willingness to earn and excel their way into it—or the willingness and competence to work at a real-world job. In contrast, think of Condi Rice, for example.

And if recent trends are any indication, what are the chances non-Citizens will be given all-paid opportunities?

If several from West Point have endorsed this, well and good—perhaps. Perhaps not. The US Marine Corps has donated $25,000 to La Raza. That was not a good military decision. The Clintons are not known for decisions that honored or respected the U.S. Military—why trust Hillary’s campaign-season rhetoric now?

Government is not the career that true Americans seek to make yet *even more* a growth industry.

You start talking private school vouchers for such a program and suddenly I may be interested. Using existing funds, of course.

Thanks for the link, will bookmark for future reference.

TSOA
P.S. Tell Hillary we don’t hate her, we hate her lies and her agenda.

Free education to train more people to live off the government dole, interfere in our lives and eventually retire on a generous government pension. Good grief.

You hit the nail on the head--more totally worthless government bureaucrats for a bigger, more intrusive, more powerful, more expensive, more controlling government--paid for on the taxpayer's back. Exactly what would these new government robots do???

We already have public service academies--they're called our MILITARY ACADEMIES!!!!

Think about this...you already have tens of thousands of volunteer opportunities existing...most provide a stipend of a couple thousand dollars per year. You have universities all around the country for everyone to attend today, with various scholarships and grant chances existing. You can attend most community colleges for less than $3000 per year. Why would the federal government need to pour $1 billion into a new service “school”? Thinking of it being alot less? Nope...you have to construct a new school...which I’m betting it will be somewhere in NY state. Count up the high cost of construction. It’ll have to be housing and classes to take care of 5,000 students likely. It’ll take at least two years to plan this out and pick the likely site...add four years in for the classes and none of these students will be “placed” until midway through the second tour of Hillary. You won’t even know success or failure...for at least two or three more years...well after she is gone.

So what idiot would want this type of degree...from a gov’t run school? The name on the degree wouldn’t be UCLA, or AU or Brigham Young or Mississippi State. Most kids who might want to give a year of volunteer work...preferably within the borders of the US or maybe the Caribbean...aren’t going to be hot to go to Colombia or Venezuela or Peru for four years (yep....has to be the same commitment as the US GI). No fool is going to sign up for four years in some Philippine pit-hole, to get yellow fever twice or in Nigeria where they get bit by some 6-ft long snake. You will see droves of kids who quit at the end of twelve months. Special waivers will be created by the congress to get little Johnny out after twelve months. You can already see this coming. Less than a quarter of the graduates will complete 48 months with the program.

And what will you do with your vast experience and this gov’t degree after eight years? Think about that part.

So now we come to the fight. Hillary has to have congress pay for this...which both the democrats and republicans are going to bulk at. If she was talking of a scholorship program where every state university could get a bit of the funding and spread this around...that would be one thing...but not this kind of deal. This is a lame idea which even the media won’t touch for comment. It’ll sit there for six months in committee, with discussions on how to finance this...maybe 150 million per year...which won’t build hardly anything. Hillary is puffing up to the far-left social crowd and begging their votes. She knows this will never go through.
