BESLAN, Russia, July 28 (Reuters) - Previously unseen film proves that the bloody end to the 2004 Beslan siege was caused by security forces firing on a school crammed with hostages, not by blasts from within, a victim support group says.

No surprise here - besides these grenades, we know that tanks fired 7 shots at the school too

Complete disregard for the lives of hostages. Just like the “rescue” operation of the theater in moscow.

“Just like the “rescue” operation of the theater in moscow.”

Yes - when they used a nerve agent without having enough antidote on had for all the hostages.

I’m willing to call it a ‘hamfisted’ rescue attempt. At the same time, the anger should be aimed at the TERRORISTS.

There is also ample evidence that the FSB purposely let the terrorists in across the border so that this could all be staged and allow Putin to grab more power.

Not a nerve agent, but Fentanyl, a very powerful synthetic opioid. Puts you out with no warning at all. The counter-drug may have been on hand, but hospital staff were not told what had been used.

Well, actually there is very good information that the FSB let them walk in uncontested.

Basayev said he had deceived Russian intelligence services, who believed his terrorists would attack a government center in the regional capital and cleared a route at the border in hopes of ambushing them along the way.

Sure, but if anything it was a tactical mistake, not a ploy to let the hostage taking take place so Putin could "grab more power".

You’re correct, the terrorists abducting children “started” this whole thing.

The facts are the facts. The children had been held hostage for a long time. Long enough that their continued health was a great concern. The terrorists had been systematically murdering male hostages. The place was rigged from top to bottom with explosives. The terrorists showed no concern about their own lives. They planned this attack so that they could take advantage of gaining the largest number of hostages and victims as possible.

Somebody had to go in and start killing. Unfortunately, many innocents died.

Dont forget that the FSB was found setting expolsives in Russian apt buildings - to blame the “terrorists”.

I always wondered about the authenticity of this image.

Why would a hostage disable a hand by wrapping it in the hand like this.

Also, the grit under the nails indicates that this person was clawing thru something - if so, how did the cross emerge pristine and otherwise not ripped off the chain. Mine has broken with a few pounds of pressure.

“Somebody had to go in and start killing.”

Civilized countries often resolve these hostage situations by negotiation.

And whats up with using tank fire - 7 rounds - thats bound to kill more hostages than terrorists - and it did.

“You don’t negotiate with terrorists. You kill them.”

Negotiation is used to wear down the terrorists and provide the time to effect a proper plan to target the terrorists.

Attacking a school building full of hostages with tank fire and other antipersonel ordinance is lunacy.

So you are a MIHOP person. Your derangement is parallel to those who think President Bush, sorry -- the BFEE, made 9/11 happen so he could institute fascism in the US. It is nonsense on both sides.

"According to victims' relatives, the local authorities are the real culprits—guilty for having allowed the terrorists to infiltrate the building months before it was taken over—and the incompetent central government, which allowed Special Forces to storm the school without making any real attempt at mediation thus triggering the massacre." It might help to read the links here and see what the locals in Beslan are claiming. And Putin seems to be ignoring their inquiries.

Whats your problem - there is already court testimony where the officials admit that the Russian tanks fired 7 rounds into the school in Beslan - probably killing more than the terrorists.

Are you saying Bush strafed the 86th floor of the WTC while it was burning?

If the owner of that hand had a desire to live, when the attack began, they took that cross off their neck and put it in their pocket, to wear it proudly, would have been instant death.

A guess on my part, but it would explain why it is clean and unbroken.

The Families of Nord Ost Theater hostage taking, have also tried to get information and it is denied to them.

The interests of the government are often at odds with the interests of the individual.

In this case, the Russian government decided that beating the terrorists was paramount, even at the cost of innocent lives. This is not unusual for most governments: the imperative is “rule at all costs”.

This is why our Founding Fathers revolted.

Fortunately, the Branch Davidians inflicted so much damage that the government achieved only a Pyhrric victory, and was motivated to return to more civilized ways.

I have been reading on this for a couple years, it is amazing what the truths look like.

To me, the truth behind all these is the leader in charge, clinton gave us Waco and Putin gave us Beslan and Nord Ost.

Entebee is the good example. But there were the casualties too. Israel speznaz saved most of hostages as the Russian speznaz did in Beslan and Moscow Theatre. Moreover all the participators in the those hostage taking acts (even those who gave teh shelter and information to terrorists) was eliminated by Russian speznaz by now. It is the justice too.
