A Memphis, Tenn., man is in critical condition Wednesday after his dog shot him in the back. Police say King George, a 150-pound Great Dane, accidentally knocked a .22-caliber pistol off his owner's end table around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The gun went off, hitting his 21-year-old owner in the back, "I knew he was smart, I didn't think he was that smart," the victim's fiancee, Miesha Lucas told MyFOXMemphis.com. "He was always protective. I didn't think he would be like that." Police refused to name the victim as they do not plan to file charges in the shooting, which they've ruled as accidental. Lucas told MyFOXMemphis.com that she fears what her fiance will do to the pet once he gets out of the hospital. The shooting occurred in the Raleigh section of Memphis.

Now that’s cold.

Whenever my dog draws down on me, he is facing in my direction.

I can outdraw him though...

Same here also. Mine can’t get his claw on the trigger. Now, he won’t let me clip his nails. I’m starting to get suspicious.

The trick is having a spare #2 ready in case the lead breaks.

I don’t think the dog aimed the gun. The owner left a loaded pistol on the end table at 2:30 AM. Not too smart unless you are really expecting trouble.

The man's fiancee, Miesha Lucas later told MyFOXMemphis.com that she and the victim were going out to a park to jog and throw a football around. The shot occurred just moments after the man had put on the jersey of his favorite football player, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Micheal Vick. The bullet left a small hole in the jersey right next to where the man had gotten Vick to autograph it last season.
