MONTPELIER, Vermont: Condemning the Fox News Channel as a warmonger that is agitating for a U.S. attack on Iran, documentary filmmaker Robert Greenwald and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders announced an "online viral video campaign" Wednesday calling on television news organizations "not to follow Fox down the road to war again."
Greenwald, the director behind "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" and "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price," has compiled a new three-minute video that mashes clips from Fox's coverage of the 2003 invasion of Iraq and its aftermath with recent coverage of possible U.S. military action against Iran.
The video and an accompanying "open letter" to ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN viewable at http://www.FoxAttacks.com urge news organizations to ask tough questions about administration policy on Iran and say citizens should pressure them to do so.
Three telephone messages to Fox in New York seeking comment were not returned Wednesday.
One media observer said the video lacked balance and journalistic credibility.
"They are accusing others of doing what they have done, which is to stitch together multiple snippets of video and very short sound bites to make an ideological argument," said Bob Steele, the Nelson Poynter Scholar for Journalism Values at the Poynter Institute school for journalists in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The video has clips of U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton, Fox host Bill O'Reilly and others warning of the potential for a U.S. war against Iran, spliced together with graphics that say "Sound Familiar?" and "Other networks followed Fox's lead on Iraq."
In one clip, CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour says during an interview that CNN was intimidated by the administration "and its foot soldiers at Fox News."

It is funny to see socialists like this whine about FOX News.
It’s puzzling. They have ABCNNBCBS and the NYT-WYTS and LALA Times and WaPO(S) and they are concerned over FOX?.............Gimmee a huge breaK!................
its really funny to hear the dem canidates talk about how tough they are going to be on terror when they are afraid of fox news
Bernie’s just mad that no one pays any attention to him now that he’s a Senator (not that anyone did when he was a Rep).
This is just his way of letting us know he’s ‘relevant’
Protecting Iran from attack has been the left’s agenda since we went into Iraq.
Bernie Sanders, of course, why couldn’t I have guessed - there’s a “real” American for you...Socialist Puke
That’s Bernie Sanders (Communist, VT). Lest anyone forget, a Socialist is a Communist.
We dont even have Fox News. The 5 minute segment, “The Grapevine” on with Brit Hume... is the best thing on Fox nowadays.
“They are accusing others of doing what they have done, which is to stitch together multiple snippets of video and very short sound bites to make an ideological argument,”
Why expect anything better from two leftist cranks? I don’t want to have anything to do with these two, and I resent the fact the taxpayers pay Sanders’ salary.
The most conservative thing about Fox was Tony Snow before he went to the White House.
Right now it’s about 70% rubbish, 20% conservative, and 10% liberal (Shep, Jerry Rivers, Greta).
The squalling brats feel entitled to all of it.
The Democrats have been extreeeeemely successful since they took the majority. They have managed to divest themselves of most but the hard core loonies. I’m looking primarily at the ratings of the Congress and the individual Dem leaders as well the positive change in attitude of Americans towards the progress of the war as I think about this.
This campaign will only add to their “success”.
The call that it is a hard road for the Republicans to win in 2008 at this time seems to be premature. I’d not suggest however anyone consider the cunning and mischief of the Leftists, especially Hillary as impotent.
I’m beginning to finally see some leadership potential worthy of voting for rising from the mess on the Republican side, and hope the direction continues. Still a wait and see though.
In other words, who cares?
An elected government official actively and openly attacking a major news outlet for not toeing the liberal line.
Cause for serious concern, to say the least.
Sanders and his ilk seem to have a serious case of "Chavez Envy."
I'll give old Bernie this though, of all the socialists and marxists presently in the United States Government, he's the only one who owns up to it.
