I’m over by Bolton Field Airport. Never had to make it to the basement because we only got about 5 minutes worth of rain. The sun is shining now.

Here in Groveport, just clouds. I was golfing at Thornapple until 3:30, and it was just starting to cloud up over there when I left.

West side of Reynoldsburg. Just spent an interesting 10 minutes watching the sky. Very little rain. Saw a LARGE circular form over my house, then breakup and move on withing 2 minutes. Most is northeast of here.

Thanks for posting all the information, Buccaneer81. I have folks living in and around the Columbus area.

It's looking much better here now. Damage near the reported touchdown sites is reported as light. Seeing raw video now on the NBC and CBS affiliates.

This was originally reported as being Lane Ave in Upper Arlington; now corrected as being at Lane and Summit Aves. east of the OSU Campus. A witness reports light damage to trees.

The report of only light damage sounds promising. Do you have a link to the videos?

Looks like it was more up near Easton. My wife works at Morse and Cherry Bottom. Saw lots of purple on the radar there.

Thanks Buccaneer. In all the years I lived in the Midwest, I never recall hearing about a tornado touchdown in Upper Arlington, nor close to O.S.U., nor anywhere near Columbus. It was always on the outskirts, or in some trailer park.

My only large city remeberance was Kansas City about five decades ago. Sorry if I’m forgetting another important event in someone’s area.

The basement is the place to be. Everyone in the midwest should have a comfortable one, for these eventualities.

I’ve never understood why each home isn’t required to have a storm celler of some sort back there. Out here in California the codes require earthquake safety measures. IMO, that has saved many lives.

I never recall hearing about a tornado touchdown in Upper Arlington, nor close to O.S.U., nor anywhere near Columbus.

Had one last year in New Albany that did quite a bit of damage, and one that actually skipped across I-270 in Hilliard about 15 years ago.

A basement or storm shelter is a long way away for these people.

It sure is. During these situations a system should be set up to allow flexible work conditions so people could leave to be home safe during the most problematic hours.

An alternative would be to have a place available at work where folks could relax and spend a few hours holed up.

Some of these storms last quite a while though.
