Tornado Warning

A few years ago, I had an appointment with a strict time commitment to meet in Indianapolis, Indiana. I was leaving Columbus, Ohio and there was a hail and rain storm with similar looking clouds all the way from Columbus, Ohio to Indianapolis, Indiana.
It was about 2:00 p.m. yet as dark as 9:00 p.m. I was torn between getting off the highway completely or continuing driving, hoping and praying for the clouds to clear. Fortunately and thank God my Dad taught me how to drive in bad weather conditions.
Despite arriving safely and on time, I think it still would have been the wiser choice to get off the road completely, especially when the wind kicked up several notches a few times.

DoughtyOne, I like the way you think! Those are great ideas. The only hitch I think is that many folks in the Midwest tend to feel the weather is "never that bad and even if it is, it'll probably happen to somebody else."
A professor in College ignored several hours of blizzard warnings saying "They always say that. A little snow is not a blizzard and nothing to fear." She refused to cancel Zoology Lab or even end it early.
After lab, I drove home not being able to see anything but a faint glow from the street lights above my car and horizontal heavy snowfall. I couldn't see any cars parked at the curb until I was inches from them. I tried to drive a straight line guesstimating the distance from the glow above to the curb.
Fortunately the only thing I hit was a huge snow bank right in the middle of my side of the road. My car got stuck there, a fair distance from my front door so I had to hike the rest of the way home. The city issued a curfew that night and I was housebound for 4 days.
Yep. LOL, I mean where would you go if you saw something like that overhead??

Take a large bath towel and put it under the dogs chest - side to side - then either straddle the dog or stand next to it holding the two ends of the towel.
Lift with your legs - not your back - and assist the dog in walking.
If you have a large wood carrier (canvas with built in handles) it works better.
Your Vet probably has meds that would make this a non-issue.

That’s pretty impressive. You remind me of some clouds I took a picture of last year. It was the first time in my life I had seen some like them. I’ll try to dig them out later.
Please ping me when you post them. Clouds are fascinating. Speaking of which, it didn't seem like rain today because there was no thunder and no lightning. Did you get any of it? We did have very high in the sky gray clouds. ;-)

I saw the news about the Chicago rain and lightning, news video.
It was awesome per view. But would not want to be there per human.
And those dang weathermen.
He (news was looped) stood there in poo poo water telling viewers not to touch the water.
Plus electrical shortages in the very neighborhood he was in.
so do weathermen have super powers against electrical shock and standing in cesspools.
Superman Lives? Argh.
We got a smattering of it. Nothing much...
