If a guilty plea to a misdemeanor violates the rules of the Senate, the Senate will deal with him.

It seems strange to me that Clinton can have 120 donors flee the country and take the fifth and his wife repeats the same track with impunity.

The demo House and Senate can have member run a chickenhawk sponsored call-boy ring out of their condo and be Congressional Committee chairman in their wake.

As we see with the Clinton’s it isn’t just a difference in sexual morals and standards, but an entire system or tolerating any level of personal behavior.

This is a strenght of pulling together that is only in part useful. The repellent nature and its effect on the middle part of the electorate is the hidden downfall.

It is alright for us to censor and condemn, but as the Richard Jewell tragedy taught, the apparent guilty aren’t always guilty and we should allow people to seek repentance and rehabilitation in public office as in private life.

I don’t know what is going to play out with this guy, but I will start by letting the Senate and the Republican Caucus do their due diligence. His personal sphere may take action as time proceeds as well. Rhetoric that implies that I should get ready to march on the Capital is what I am belittling in my comments.

Allow me to generalize for a moment.

We are all human and frail and at the mercy of our desires and especially those of the flesh. I understand that. Lord knows that I have my temptations.

Now, we place these humans in an environment that glorifies power and they get drunk on that power. But we are not animals that can act solely on instinct and lust. When we send these people to DC and delegate the awesome power that we do, there is an inherent responsibility that goes with it.

Now the Dems don’t find such behavior to be morally repugnant — or at least they are willing to tolerate it in order to main power. Most pubbies, however do and won’t tolerate it.

The problem isn’t that there is a double standard although there is one. The problem is in the people that we as pubbies send to DC to represent us. They fail in two regards.

Like kids going off to college for the first time, they enjoy the freedom and power, but forget about their responsibilities. More than a few succumb to the temptations (which very might well be entrapment) and thus are vulnerable and cannot speak up when the dems commit the sins and crimes that they do. Thus they are neutered when it comes to ousting the opposition. When they are exposed (no pun intended) they subject themselves to rebuke and ouster.

Not that all conservatives are saints. They surely are not. But as we expanded the ‘big tent’ we allowed more and more RINOs into the party. RINO is just fancy talk for a liberal who pretends to be an pubbie. So as we lower our standards as to who can be our standard bearers, we will see more and more of this happening.

Thanks for your patience in getting through this. I do understand your frustrations but I learned to lessen mine by accepting the fact that the Dems WILL misbehave (to put it mildly) so when they do, it’s no surprise and I know that they will likely get away with it. OTOH, I do hold the GOP to a much higher standard and I am disappointed when they step out of line.

What Craig is accused of isn’t being a homo. As distasteful and sinful as I believe that to be, that is between him and the Lord. His (reported) behavior is despicable and of the lowest level that you’d expect from the gutter. He is unfit to serve (if guilty and I believe he is) with the power that is entrusted to someone in that position.

Thank you. The only question is:

Did I do it effectively?

I used to be more tolerant, but as I get older I find that I have less and less patience for the abuse that we get from our elected officials. The longer we tolerate the abuses and misuses of power, the more of this we’ll be dealing with. This really isn’t any different from the criminal justice system. Leniency doesn’t convert them into choir boys. It enhances their perception that they can get away with anything.

What he didn’t do, basically, is think with his big head instead of the little one.
