*I'm a believer. In my day, ADD/ADHD was unknown. My teachers had now idea about to deal with me. If classes only lasted fifteen minutes, I could have been an A student. Basically, for me it was like someone had a remote control for my mind, and was channel surfing.

That's how my son is. Plus, hands-on things help a lot. He can focus on pounding a nail into a board or figuring out to put up the cabin tent in the back yard on his own. But, worksheets or other school work type of things have to be short or he has to come back to them later.

I think I am correct to say that my generation was the first to be given compulsory education. As a kid I knew some successful older people that had quit school before the eighth grade. I can’t help but think they were ADD’er that got a jump start on their lives before their former classmates who finished school.

My grandpa only had an eighth grade education. He was a lamp lighter, a butcher, a firefighter for a short time in the military, and ended up being a policeman. He was very intelligent and great at math, except when it came to algebra.

I struggled with higher math. Then, with my last course, Differential Calculus I made a B, which was a proud moment in life. I have never had to use it since.

bleh, i am seeing this article EVERYWHERE today. i sincerely hope that no one runs to the doctor after seeing this, thinking that their kids are dying or something. Lol, I read a funny article reviewing the washington post that brings up a good point - who funds this research? can u find that kind of stuff out? is that public info? (here is the original article i’m talking about: http://www.wiccanchicken.com/wiccanchicken/2007/09/penny-for-your-thoughs-re-9-of-us-kids.html ). I guess iagree that it probably is mostly a marketing scam, but there’s no way to prove it either way.
