Interviewed in 2005, his wife Jennifer Lee Pryor said that Pryor poured high-proof rum over his body and torched himself in a drug psychosis.[citation needed] His daughter, Rain Pryor also stated this in an interview in People Magazine.[6] In a TV interview with Barbara Walters during his recovery, Pryor said that he tried to commit suicide. He claimed that his managers and lawyers created the "accident" lie in the belief that it would be less damning than a suicide attempt[citation needed].

If you had to live in Hollywood, you might feel depressed about how your life was headed too.

Those who are engaging in a life of pretend are trying to escape from the reality of their lives. It isn’t the first time that the Hollywood system has done this to actors/actresses. It is an old story and its been remade many times.

Getting the giggles is intensified when the setting is inappropriate, especially when you have a cohort.”

Imagine sitting in a church as a fifteen year old and someone uses the word “erect” in the sense of building, or construction, a totally appropriate usage. Unless you are a fifteen year old, sitting in church with the buddies....

Wasn’t Wilson in ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ with Gene Hackman?
That was an excellent movie.

This is an extremely off color story. I remember being in church as a nine year old with my best friend, Nathan. Nathan was busily digging around in his nose mining for something. He pulls out this massive green monstrosity and with nowhere to put it he flicked it away. Well it flew about ten feet and hit an exit door with a very audible THUD...and stuck! I don’t know that I have ever in my life laughed so hard...or so quietly.

I am glad to hear it hit only the door.

I was terrified that you were going to say it stuck on Ms. Crabtree’s chin, a few rows back....

or maybe you're just stupid.

Or maybe I just dont care about Hollywood. With that said, was the personal attack really necessary? A very liberal trait.

Yes the attack was necessary and correct. You don’t have to care about Hollywood and you certainly don’t have to pay to watch anything you don’t want to watch. But if you are going to act like someone from democraticunderground, and kick someone when they are down, I’m going to treat you like you are from DU. I stand behind my assessment of your intelligence.

Little more info about Owen Wilson: Apparently he had been doing massive amounts of cocaine and heroin after Kate Hudson broke up with him. His brother Luke Wilson came over to see him and found him drugged out, and bleeding from the wrist. Some Owen Wilson movies include: You, me, &Dupree; Zoolander; Starsky & Hutch; The Life Aquatic; and Wedding Crashers. They aren't great cinematic achievements, but they are funny, and Owen Wilson hasn't denounced America on foreign soil yet (at least not to my knowledge). Regardless of their feelings, most of these "Frat Pack" guys just concentrate on making funny movies.

Replace Owen Wilson with Ashcroft, or Cheney, or Rumsfeld and alot of people who post on here would be all over this guy. Is it only inappropriate if it’s a conservative?

Thank you for the information on Mr. Wilson. However, I’m gonna stick to what I said earlier — that the problems may have started long before the romantic breakup. Thing is that large numbers of people with depression and other forms of mental illness don’t want to admit that they have a problem. Or they are afraid that if they do, it will ruin their careers or embarrass their families. I know I had problems long before I sought help. I am by no means famous, but it was customary in my family to buck up and deal with things alone. As I was told once, in a conversation about counseling, it wasn’t right to “air the dirty laundry” to strangers. I didn’t seek help for my problems till I fell into a horrible depression after my father died. But to this day, most of my family doesn’t know I received counseling and was on medication for a time. If they knew or would know now, I would never hear the end of it.

And many who fall into drug and/or alcohol addiction often do so to cover up their problem or to self medicate. Often this self-medication does indeed cover up the problem to the point where no diagnosis or an inaccurate diagnosis is made. I once worked for a guy — brilliant lawyer and an all-around nice guy — but when his wife became terminally ill, he just fell apart. I knew he was drinking and assumed he was depressed. He did seek counseling for his depression and took anti-depressants. But I didn’t find out till years later (and apparently neither did he) that he actually was manic-depressive. He was only receiving treatment for half his problem...the other half went untreated because no one recognized it. Today, he’s part of a medical school program to treat his illness — the hope is that the program will become a model for successful diagnosis and treatment of manic-depressive illness. Apparently, he is doing well under this program. It’s too bad that his problem was not sufficiently diagnosed years ago — he could have recovered much earlier.

Who is Owen Wilson and why should I care more about him than the other 10,000 who attempted suicide yesterday?

Men to women suicide rates here in the post-feminist Paradise, 5 to 1.
Among people over 50, 11 to 1.

(Your statistical corrections welcome.)
