Top Democrat vows to block possible Bush nominee

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed on Wednesday to block former Solicitor General Theodore Olson from becoming attorney general if President George W. Bush nominates him to replace Alberto Gonzales.

Congressional and administration officials have described Olson as a leading contender for the job as the nation's chief U.S. law enforcement officer, but Reid declared: "Ted Olson will not be confirmed" by the Senate.

"He's a partisan, and the last thing we need as an attorney general is a partisan," Reid told Reuters in a brief hallway interview on Capitol Hill.

Earlier in the day, White House press secretary Tony Snow, amid word that Bush was nearly ready to pick a new attorney general, told reporters, "We don't have a decision yet."

Besides spewing hate and obstructing everything good for this nation, what do those bottom feeders do?

The predictable GOP reply:

“PLEASE like me! Don’t be angry, we’ll nominate a nice person, am I still invited to the brie-fest on Friday?”

You are going to look real good Harry slaming a man that lost his wife on 9/11. Oh, I forgot, 9/11 is a distant concept to you and your party.

Didn't you know? The REAL reason Dingy Harry is fighting any Olsen nomination is because Barbara WAS killed on 9/11. That's what Dingy means by "partisan" - Olsen would be partisan against terrorists.

Can't have that, now can we? / sarc.

Nominate Olson.

If he doesn’t get through, then just keep Paul Clement as acting AG. Clement is young, bright, capable, and conservative.

Either way we win.

Partisan? Maybe. He’s an effective lawyer and that is something this Justice dept. has sorely lacked recently ;o)

Can’t the President wait until these A-H#les go on break and make a recess appointment?

He should have done it two weeks ago while they were on break.

What a dumbass. He just assured Olson’s nomination and handed Republicans a huge issue for next year’s campaign. “Democrats obstruct Justice!” LMAO.

The White House can use Olsen to really batter the Democrats. Oh wait, I forgot. The White House doesn’t have a clue as to how to play this game, and the Senate Republicans are ineffectual little wussies. Never mind.

"He's a partisan, and the last thing we need as an attorney general is a partisan," Reid told Reuters in a brief hallway interview on Capitol Hill.

So here we have the spectacle of perhaps the most partisan of partisans in DC complaining about someone else being a partisan? Cripes, these 'Rats have no clue as to the utter irony and hypocrisy of their statements.

Um, Harry? You're a pretty big partisan too last I checked.

I say nominate Ted Olson for the A G spot, let the DumbRats balk on the process...THEN, MAKE THE RECESS APPOINTENT.
That way they show once more what complete fools they are and we get a TRULY GREAT MAN!

ps: Rove approved this plan

Don’t they have a Thanksgiving recess coming up in a while?

Why wait. They are gone from Thurs. noon until Tues. noon every week.
