I’m one of those third generation legacies, and Scandinavian. Can’t find any shoes to fit. I wear sandals until it snows. Maybe this is the ticket, but I was trying to get away from the clunky white look.

I’ve heard that Hawaiians also have feet that are broader across the joints, and I’ve seen at least one that certainly did have unusually-shaped feet.

I’ll shop anywhere I can get a 12H. New Balance’s widest is good for about 2 weeks before the sides blow out.

I am female. I haven't tried Easy spirit, but I will have to. Thanks! I've had good luck with New Balance. My foot is wide, but it's the high arch/instep that really get in the way. And finding boots is doubly difficult.
BTW, 1/8 Native American, if that means anything. : )
It probably does! I'm mostly Slavic/Russian, and my family (all of them) are 'recent' additions to the US, about 100 years now. I remember seeing photos of Russian women with 'my' foot, ie wider.

Any truth to this for the local tribes here in Humboldt county FH. My late BiL wore those old B/W high top “tennis shoes” for years. He was 1/4 Kurok ...

I assume you’ve tried big & tall stores?

“What about making a proper fitting shoe for my giant scandinavian foot?”
And what size and ethnicity is the other foot, Malaysian? Nike can make an Air Scandilaysian for them both.

It's called 'Shoe Dept', so I guess it wasn't you, or you'd know! It's a discount chain, kind of like a Ross', a TJ Maxx, taking leftover stock and reselling it. I'm in western PA. They are found in many, but not all, states. DSW does the same kind of thing.
I occasionally walk into sporting goods stores asking for anything they carry in a 16 or 17.
Anything they carry? That would limit your choices unless you plan on hunting/fishing, etc! If you live near a university (and they may cost more), you can try to shop where the athletes shop, those stores will cover a larger variety of sizes and not just sneakers.

"with a larger fit for the distinct foot shape of American Indians,..."
...ball of the foot (front part, just behind the toes) is often wider, and the arch is often higher. Those shoes should be sold everywhere in the USA, IMO. :-)

I wonder if this will offset the use of child labor in Asian markets?Maybe Nike can come up with a shoe for them too -- Air SweatShop or something.

There's a shortage of those, because they're all used on planes and boats. ;-)

Reading along the thread, I realize that it wasn't meant to be funny and that you may have big feet. My brother has huge feet and has complained about the trouble finding shoes that are comfortable. Boots he can find but shoes are problematic.
Once there were cobblers to remedy this problem.
