School Considers Holiday Name Changes

Some parents of students enrolled in an Illinois school district are upset that traditional school holidays may be renamed or eliminated. Instead of celebrating Halloween, students would celebrate "fall festival." Instead of Christmas, it would be called a "winter festival." The move came after school officials fielded complaints from a parent who is Arabic. Four elementary schools and one junior high will be affected. The Illinois PTA director is investigating the districts actions.

It’s hopeless to challenge the educational system. Americans generally simply don’t like confrontation anyway. Vote no on all schools levies. Don’t buy into the myth that the value of your house will collapse. And, send your kids to private schools for a quality education.

If they don’t like our holidays, tell them to go back to where they came from.

I agree with you ...They don't have to celebrate our holidays anyway. I don't celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Kawanza,Yom Kippur, or the Chinese New Year etc. However I don't mind those that do. If the Muslims mind our traditions & holidays then they don't need to come to America. If they intend to live here anyway then they ought to shut up & deal with it quietly.

A memo regarding overtime pay a few years ago from a large Milwaukee health system referred to Christmas as the “December 25th Day Holiday”.....

This one scumbag Arab is enjoying a power trip granted to him by his adopted country. The ungrateful ba*tard deserves any fate that befalls him for this thumb-in-your-eye gesture to his community.

Political Correctness. The road stop to Dhimmitude.

I suggest that the good people of Illinois make it so hard for this raghead that he moves back to his hellhole.

Why is this “Winter Festival” celebrated the week of 12/25 through 1/2? What exactly is the SIGNIFICANCE of the date December 25th? Why don’t we celebrate this “Winter Festival”in the first week of December or the 1st week of February? A couple of ragheads complain about a holiday we celebrate to honor the birth of Jesus Christ and we cave? Last I heard about 85% of Americans are Christians and believe in Him. What a terrible shame this is and what awful cowards these administrators are. Ditto the towns people who won’t show their outrage. I wonder what He must be thinking about now.

“....complaints from a parent who is Arabic....”

One complaint? Well, what if 100 complained they wanted to maintain the time honored tradition? Would they listen? If not, why not?

Would these schools make any similar accommodations if a Christian parent was offended by the mention of Kwanzaa?

“This is the era of people getting their panties in a wad.”

These people need a catchy name....something like the Bunched Bloomer Brigade.

Halloween has been fall festival here for years (in the public school system). Christmas and Easter break changed to Winter and Spring breaks. It’s all about PC terms now.

I agree but fighting it locally. It’s probably going to take a real hit or fall before we have the momentum. I thought 9-11 would do it but people forgot.

ITA and support our military. Never forget what they do for us or their sacrifice. My Dad was a WWII vet so it’s ingrained in us. Doesn’t seem to be the case for millions of Americans. Finding more and more have no idea.

And we idiot Illinoisans support this ridiculous activity through our property taxes. We should hit them where it hurts, in the wallet, but this is Crook County, Illinois. A God-forsaken, politically correct sanctuary county.
