School Considers Holiday Name Changes

Some parents of students enrolled in an Illinois school district are upset that traditional school holidays may be renamed or eliminated. Instead of celebrating Halloween, students would celebrate "fall festival." Instead of Christmas, it would be called a "winter festival." The move came after school officials fielded complaints from a parent who is Arabic. Four elementary schools and one junior high will be affected. The Illinois PTA director is investigating the districts actions.

Wow...the Christmas part doesn't surprise me, but Halloween? How...odd. Either way, it would be stupid to rename them to be PC.

This is the era of people getting their panties in a wad. Everyone is sooooo sensitive. The secularists are all mincy about Christmas, and the the more thin-skinned of the Christians get a-flutter about Halloween. All of these nervous nellies need to take a pill and relax and let traditional holidays be the joyous things they are.

HONESTLY — everybody RELAX! Have a PARTY! Go trick or treating! Sing a Christmas carol! Jeez!

They have every right to complain but where is it written that we must indulge them? This is foolishness. Just another reason not to send children to public schools. Let those that will wallow in their silly ideas of fairness and desire for ambiguity and indulgence of the perpetually offended. I personally will not sacrifice our culture for do gooders who would protect us from the “threats” of Harry Potter, Halloween, and Christmas.

“The move came after school officials fielded complaints from a parent who is Arabic.”

If they don’t like our holidays, tell them to go back to where they came from.

My recommendation is that these PC Liberal parents move to the Middle East where they won’t have to deal with any holidays. They’ll spend their days just trying to survive and won’t have to worry about such mundane things as the names of school holidays. Another recommendation is that these morons start reading history so they won’t be doomed to repeat it.

It’s time for those Americans that still have gonads and a spine to stand up for their country, their freedoms, and their future and make themselves worthy of those American patriots that are fighting to protect us in such places as Afganistan and Iraq. Many cowardly Americans are disgracing our history and our forefathers. In the US Congress, you know the names of such cowards!

Any idea where in Illinois this occurred? The news item doesn’t give specifics.

There is definitely something wrong when a school district decides to change holiday names because of one Arab.

If you or I went and moved to Saudi Arabia-Egypt Pakistan etc., would they change the name of Ramadan?

Time for Christian parents to step up and fight this...both administratively via challenges, and with guerilla tactics as well--for instance sending children in with Christmas garb, handing out and putting up posters for Christmas, singing Christmas carols in school, etc.

An ARAB parent. These are the rules. Either you like it or don’t come to the party. I cannot stand it that a noisy minority gets pandered to.

Government skools are a mess and this is just one symptom. I’m glad we send our kids to private, Christian schools. This kind of complaint would not even be seriously considered.
