(Hillary) Clinton's Iran Vote Prompts A Harsh Back-and-Forth
Washington Post ^ | 10/7/07 | Dan Balz

Posted on 10/07/2007 6:06:51 PM PDT by Roberts

Randall Rolph said he came to New Hampton, Iowa, on Sunday to see Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) with an open mind about whether to support her candidacy. After a tough exchange over Iran, he left saying he had ruled her out.

Rolph was one of several hundred people who turned out in this small town in northern Iowa for Clinton's appearance. When she called on him for a question, he pulled out a piece of paper and read a question about Iran.

Rolph asked Clinton to explain her Senate vote Wednesday for a resolution urging the Bush administration to label the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. Rolph interpreted that measure as giving Bush authority to use military action against the Iranians.

"Well, let me thank you for the question, but let me tell you that the premise of the question is wrong and I'll be happy to explain that to you," Clinton began.

She offered a detailed description of the resolution, which she said stressed robust diplomacy that could lead to imposing sanctions against Iran, and then pointedly said to Rolph that her view wasn't in "what you read to me, that somebody obviously sent to you."

"I take exception," Rolph interjected. "This is my own research."

"Well then, let me finish," Clinton responded.

Rolph, from nearby Nashua, fired back that no one had sent him the material.

"Well, then, I apologize. It's just that I've been asked the very same question in three other places," she said.

Hillary has an arrogant streak that will cause her to blow up eventually.

I dislike HRC as much as anyone but is this news--someone asked a question and there were a couple of words back and forth?

These things are so stage-managed that when a nothing of an exchange like this happens, it's news?

You let Romney or Rudy or Thompson say something like that to a voter and it leads the evening news, followed quickly by an orchestrated series of demands for withdrawal from the race.

It would appear that Ms. Clinton depends on her audience being too ignorant to ask a meaty question. When you basically allege that someone is part of the vast right wing conspiracy just because they ask something of substance, you are in pretty sad shape. Wish more of her base would recognize this little fact.

like the arrogant and insecure of all political persusaions, she seemed incapable of comprehending that someone might actually think for himself; she presumed, it appears, that he had printed some "talking points" off a "trip up hillary" website.

that tendency to presumption is sickening enough, especially since it's not only bipartisan, it's universal.

that notwithstanding, does the article not seem to paint the democratic front runner as "tough on terror?"

And I hope that all voters will realize this about her as time goes on . She has no core values, no core beliefs, no positions on issues that haven’t been focus group tested.

Hey Hillary, way to make friends and influence people, if you’re going to get out there and insult people who ask an intelligent question. Is she trying to earn people’s respect and votes, or does she think this is a coronation tour?

He was a plant so she could show that she can think on her feet. Nothing is ever as it seems with Satan.

There's a news report out there from some insider that she was flattered but not interested when Rangel "asked" her to run for the senate. Do you believe that stuff too?

Guess she just doesn't understand how 3-4 people can think for themselves..?..~!

Any apology she would ever make would be disingenuous.

Rolph MegaBUMP!!

Iowa cojones on full display. Gotta love it! I assume he adequate life insurance?

Through this exchange I hope his eyes were locked on her eyes like a laser beam.

Anybody besides me think the WaPo is a little over the top in describing this discussion as “harsh?”

I mean, she didn’t even call the guy a mother**cker :-)

Sooner or later somebody's gonna push the Hildabeaste over the edge and she's gonna rant as only she can. Her poll ratings will drop and the pusher will become a national hero.

The Clinton Chinese Mafia will paint this as her being attacked by the VRWC. She really isn’t that good a candidate and the anti-war crowd is getting verplexed.
