I think anyone who puts career and money before principle is a RINO. The money issues are a good way of telling because the RINOs have learned to impersonate real Republicans with the social issues. The RINOs are not as embarassed as they used to be to express conservative social values because they now know that there are millions of values voters out there. But RINOs are weak on fiscal conservatism because heck it’s somebody elses money and they are in bed with anyone who will pay their way, just like a kept woman. RINOs support open borders though they claim to value national security. The reason is that when push comes to shove money trumps everything. That is what a RINO is all about money, money, money. They sell out our border security and they sell out our future by being wasteful and they also sell out our economic strength by bad trade deals that benefit their fat cat friends.

Anyone who ever voted against Pro-Life positions.
Yes. In 1992, I voted for “Republican” William Weld for Governor in Massachusetts. I was a recovering liberal at the time and he was the most republican available. I can move on to the next step of recovery.

Apparently in the views of some it’s someone who agrees with you on 85% of the issues.
I’m trying to figure out why people here don’t support Hunter, and instead choose a so-called “first tier” guy, when the tier system is based on nothing of any substance or value to conservatives. I can see it’s futile to stop it, but I am curious about it.
With rare exceptions anyone who is praised by the major use networks.

That does describe one segment, but I think the Republican Party is more center-oriented than we conservatives want to believe.
Both parties have this fight for control taking place. And it seems both bases are losing to the moderate factions in each party. Not that Hillary is a moderate, but she has not left any room on her right for a Dem candidate. The more openly left a Dem candidate, the lower his poll numbers. And if you put together the national poll numbers for Rudy, Romney and McCain, you have a very high majority of the Republican party favoring them. I’m not saying I like it, just being realistic about where the Republican party is today. It’s a center-right party at best, not a conservative party as defined by Jim Robinson, for example. Unless the polls are all wrong, of course. That’s why I say our problem isn’t RINOS, it’s CINOS.

The best assumption to make these days is that all Republicans are Rhino,s unless they can prove otherwise by way of there record. The reason this is the best assumption is that 90% of them are. Very sad, but true.
Yeah, and the biggest RINOs seem to have been in office the longest. Funny, now they have Trent Lott on the RINO list. Few years back, I wanted to throw him under the bus for the fake fraud he was, and people wanted to ban me for it. Look at them now.

The Republican party is NOT conservative, it is a center-right party. The party was conservative for about 8 years, known as the Reagan years, and even he had his moderate moments. This is the party that then nominated and elected George Bush the elder, and it hasn’t really changed since then, except for a very short Newt fantasy that didn’t last very long. George the younger has been moderate overall, and the party continues to favor moderates. That’s why Hunter is going nowhere in the polls.
Unless the polls are all wrong, of course. That’s why I say our problem isn’t RINOS, it’s CINOS.
***The problem with calling them CINOs is that they’ll swear up & down that they’re conservative. But they stop short at calling themselves socons — social conservatives. I know they don’t like being called solibs.
So the tension is between socons and wannabe conservatives.
The best name is like the socon one, where each side accepts it. We don’t consider them to be conservatives, and they do. So we need a name they’ll admit to — maybe pragmacons. Principled socons vs. compromising pragmacons.
RINOs have views more in line with liberals, Republicans have conservative views. That help?

Haha! That’s pretty good, I have to say. I guess my point is that if 90% of your biker gang is gay, you are in a gay biker gang, no matter how much you try to deny it.
It is my take that I am in a moderate political party (Republican), and “we” conservatives or “socons” are in the minority in this party. I also believe we have a duty to our country to vote in the presidential election, though I have no problem with someone who votes “third party.” However, one voting third party should join that party in my view.
