Gabby Cirenza wanted to be a referee for Halloween. The outfit she liked had a micro-mini black skirt and a form-fitting black and white-striped spandex top held together with black laces running up the flesh-exposing sides. She looked admiringly at the thigh-high black go-go boots that could be bought as an accessory. And she thought the little bunny on the chest was cute.
"Absolutely not," said her mother, Cheryl. "That is so not happening."
Gabby is 11.
And the Playboy Racy Referee costume was only the latest that her mother had vetoed one pre-Halloween-crazed afternoon at Party City in Baileys Crossroads as too skimpy, too revealing, too suggestive .
Bawdy Halloween costumes, however, have become the season's hottest sellers in recent years. Not just for women, but for girls, too. And parents such as Cirenza don't like it.
Gabby eyed the Sexy Super Girl but decided against it. A friend at her Catholic school had worn that costume for a Halloween parade and pulled the already short miniskirt way up to cover her tummy. "That didn't look very good." But Gabby did like the Aqua Fairy, a vampy get-up with a black ripped-up skirt, black fishnet tights and blue bustier that comes in medium, large and preteen. A medium fits a child of 8.

How about the Funky Punk Pirate Pre-Teen, with an off-the-shoulder blouse and bare midriff?

Gabby pointed to the Fairy-Licious Purrrfect Kitty Pre-Teen, which, according to the package, includes a "pink and black dress with lace front bodice and sassy jagged skirt with tail. . . . Wings require some assembly."
Cheryl Cirenza shook her head in exasperated disbelief. "This is all so inappropriate. It's really disturbing."

Every woman was dressed in a sexy outfit rather than a scary or fantasy outfit.
The ones that were old enough came into the bar and used their outfits to great effect to bum cocktails from the drunks.
The Bible tells Christians specifically not to adopt the practices of pagans and make them a part of worshipping Him. He tells us in His word how he wants to be worshipped and co-opting a pagan holiday and pretending they’re Christian is not what He told us to do.
Hmmm, don't think so. Trees as a sacred tradition pre-date Christian Europe. The book of Jeremiah mocks it as pagan:

I’ll stick with Scripture all the same:

While your kids may dress up like disney characters, you’re still lending approval towards the event, which is celebrated by death, zombies, and the grave. That your kids dress up differently does not change what Halloween is. An analogy would be “My kids celebrate Hannukah, but they only play with dreidles, they don’t actually light a minorah!” You’re still partnering with it.
Re: your points 2 and 3, we differ in our idea of ministry approach, so I can’t comment without risking a flame war.
hmm as a Jew I could never understand how christians could celebrate halloween.
I’ve always associated halloween with guarding the synagogue from youths who would throw eggs and shaving cream. It was always a bad time...I remember one time being chased by some kids in costumes when I was coming home from high school. The next day I walked to the same spot and noticed there were some eggs on the ground. They missed.

LOL - and you could be right there also. The men are in the middle while some of the females yell “Don’t look at me” and the others are saying “Look at me, look at me.”
Christmas trees have nothing to do with asherim. Asherim were worshipped, Christmas trees are simple decorations.
The ancient Germans worshipped groves of trees as sacred and believed that trespassing in the sacred groves would bring death.
Saint Boniface, the Apostle of Germany, evangelized the Germans by taking an ax, striding right into the middle of the sacred grove, chopping down one of the sacred trees and dragging it back to his home - an act of unbelievable profanity to the pagans.
Yet the "gods" of the grove did not strike him down.
It is to commemorate Boniface's victory over this superstition that German Christians traditionally chopped down trees to celebrate the clearing of pagan darkness and the coming of the Christ child. And, as an American Christian who happens to be of Germanic extraction, I will continue my ancestral tradition of thumbing my nose at the false gods of the pagans.
Yeshua never even told us to celebrate His birthday.
Just know that many Christians disagree with you and see them as a pagan symbol, including the person I originally posted the comment to. They quote the passage from Jeremiah and say its idol worship and a pagan holdover from Scandinavian and Germanic tribes.
This should be the response of every parent to every child that wants a 'provocative' costume.
Next time they do it, kick their @ss.
Suppose there were a militant pro-male organization equivalent to NOW, supported by the MSM, which was actively anti-female, and their message was that females were to be avoided, (whatever the given reason) and all males should support this message, and that this group purports to speak for and represent all males. I imagine most males, me for sure, would not hesitate to tell that group and their water carriers in the MSM to go straight to hell. To some extent, this is what may be happening with the females and the MSM is ignoring it. Are they saying in effect, "Pay attention to US, and not to the hags of NOW?" And because the MSM tends to ignore women not associated with NOW, they have to use a strong visual image to get their message across. Now, I'm not saying that this is what is happening, I am just posing it as a possibility.
