Citgo distributor says sales lapse By Rick Stouffer TRIBUNE-REVIEW Wednesday, October 31, 2007
Greg Marnell thinks everyone has a right to do business in the United States, even Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez. While filing his gas tank at Tyke's Citgo in Monroeville, Marnell said he is aware of Chavez's ties to the gasoline company.
"America's the melting pot, isn't it? Everybody has the right to come here and make money," said Marnell of Monroeville.
But Chavez's increasing anti-U.S. antics may be hurting the oil-rich South American nation at the gasoline pump. So says gasoline distributor Don Bowers, who acknowledges motorists seem to be buying less gasoline from Citgo, a subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A.

"America's the melting pot, isn't it? Everybody has the right to come here and make money," said Marnell of Monroeville. And Americans have the right to spend their money as they see fit, which includes not supporting a two-bit dictator like Chavez.

According to an email I just got, you’ll want to avoid “Petro Express” like the plauge as well. It seems Citgo is changing the names on it’s stations to boost it’s sagging bushiness.

Citgo is involved in distributing discount-priced home heating oil, a program started last year by Joseph Kennedy, a former Democratic congressman and son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy. The nonprofit Citizens Energy, which Kennedy operates, provided 100 million gallons of home heating oil at a 40 percent discount. A Kennedy can't miss up an opportunity to take a Leftist shot at America, can he?

I wish we had a Citgo here so I could drive past on the way to a real American gas station.

In Greenwood, In. , a place I often accuse of being out of touch, 2 citgo's this year have changed affiliations.
The first happened about 4 months ago on St rd 135. They actually put a bag over their citgo sign! You could however see it as a shadow. This place went from ghost town to boom town, over night.
You have to love it.

Many of the 7-11’s here in Florida, which are Citgo stations, have removed their Citgo signs totally, but I still avoid them. Your email has been going around for some time and it’s always good to be reminded.
