Rosie O'Donnell's return to the world of talk has been short-circuited by her own big mouth.
In a posting to her blog Wednesday night, O'Donnell revealed that negotiations with MSNBC to host her own prime-time show had fallen apart due to her inability to keep quiet about the potential deal.
"We were close to a deal/ almost done/ i let it slip in miami/ causing panic on the studio end," she wrote in her trademark punctuation- and grammar-eschewing free verse. "Well/ what can u do.
"2day there is no deal/ poof/ my career as a pundit is over/ b4 it began."
Still, O'Donnell doesn't seem to be too distraught.
"Just as well/ i figure/everything happens for a reason/ bashertas we say," she wrote. "And on we go."
Word of the proposed deal, which would've seen O'Donnell in the 9 p.m. time slot, immediately after Keith Olbermann on MSNBC's schedule and talking head-to-talking head with CNN's Larry King, was first reported Monday by the New York Times. The newspaper indicated that cautious conversations had begun between O'Donnell and the network.
Apparently not cautious enough, at least for O'Donnell.
The boisterous talk-show vet failed to keep mum about the back-and-forth, dropping hints of a potential return to the airwaves on several stops of her book-signing tour for Celebrity Detox.
During a stop in Miami on Sunday, O'Donnell told fans she would soon be competing against "the guy with the suspenders and the long, long face"as in, King.
On Tuesday, during a stand-up show at the New York Comedy Festival, after reports of her discussions with the cable net had already made the rounds, O'Donnell again played not so coy with the audience.
"We're filming for an unidentified TV station, which I was told I was not allowed to mention," she said during the gig. "You don't tell me what I'm not allowed to say, because then I can't help but say it!"
She went on to prove her point.
"They told me not to mention this possible show, and they are men in business suits. Nothing is scarier than men in business suits screaming at you over the phone."
O'Donnell's last television foray ended abruptly in May, when she departed The View before the end of her one-year contract after an on-air bustup with Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Her success is proof that Satan exists.
Rosie is very special. As in "special classes."
Bingo. There never was a deal. Probably never were negotiations. Probably, no one is talking to her. She's back doing stand-up gigs in dingy dives.
You got that right fellow Red Devil. Ugh.
Hope thats this finishes her “career”.
Had to go back and read ‘headline’. . .LOL/lol. . .
Was Geneviève Bujold in that? She’s great.
Were you with VMFA 232?
Joy Peters ping!
I don’t know why people keep offering her jobs. Rosie sabotages EVERYTHING she is connected with. And here I was all set to deprogram MSNBC from my TV lineup (just like I did when Ron Reagan was on).
I was with the 298th Signal in Quang Tri `70-`71. We did comm for the Northern District.Set up all the firebase comms.I worked with many Marine units,
Not familiar the term VMFA,but guessing Viet Nam Marine Force ?.
She didn’t need a mask for Halloween.
VMFA means Fixed Wing(V) Marine(M) Fighter(F) Attack(A) aircraft. In my case it was squadron VMFA-232 the “RED DEVILS”. F4J Phantoms. Danang. Electronic Countermeasures Tech. (ECM).
Nope. I was thinking of another actress.
It has also been reported that they dropped the offer because Ms/O/donnell/ wanted a helicopter/to take her to work/ every day/ (as rosie would write it). So much for another liberal being willing to save energy or gasoline. Guess she doesn't listen to/believe in ALgore's hype either. Taking a cab, the bus or (heaven forbid) the subway is only for the "little people," right, Rosie? Not someone/as important/ as you/are - NOT/
I hope this is the last of her and her antics that we ever hear about. But, oneday we will probably hear horror stories from those poor children she adopted, something like "Mommie Dearest," or worse. Living in that household must be horrid, if not very confusing for them growing up around someone so confrontational and angry all the time.
Pick one, think it was Sondra Locke.
Actors: Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke, Pat Hingle, Bradford Dillman, Paul Drake
Rosie, MSNBC: No Deal
Contrary to reports, there will be no Rosie ODonnell show on MSNBC.
According to sources, Rosie and the struggling cable network have ended talks. They apparently could not reach an agreement on money or the length of a contract, with Rosie remaining steadfast in her desire not to commit to more than one year.
And dont believe that it was because ODonnell mentioned the negotiations last week in public that MSNBC scotched the deal. In the end, it was about money.
Not only was it the idiot Rosie, but in the montage they had her hanging upside down in the stupid harness thing. LOL!!
Fox & Friends also had a little animated graphic that was hilarious...Brian mentioned that the idiot Rosie insisted on a helicopter transport her to the NBC studio...the graphic was an animation of a huge helicopter hauling her hanging upside down in the harness and dropping her in the building...with the building shaking. It was grreat.
I missed that one
Anyone else would be called illiterate.
And always remember, it's never over until The Fat Lady sings.
