We're floundering in a quagmire in Iraq. Our strategy is flawed, and it's too late to change it. Our resources have been squandered, our best people killed, we're hated by the natives and our reputation around the world is circling the drain. We must withdraw. No, I'm not channeling Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. I'm channeling Osama bin Laden, for whom the war in Iraq has been a catastrophe. Al-Qaida has been driven from every neighborhood in Baghdad, Maj. Gen. Joseph Fil, the U.S. commander there, said Nov. 7... Forty-five al-Qaida leaders were killed or captured in October alone. Al-Qaida's support in the Muslim world has plummeted, partly because of the terror group's lack of success in Iraq, more because al-Qaida's attacks have mostly killed Muslim civilians. "Iraq has proved to be the graveyard, not just of many al-Qaida operatives, but of the organization's reputation as a defender of Islam," said StrategyPage... Today’s majority of today’s US Media is being run by folks that are largely GAY (the NY Times Editorial board doesn’t call ITSELF “The Gay Mafia” for nothing”), and overwhelmingly Leftist.
Anything that doesn’t meet the pre-planned “Hurt Bush” line is not going to get coverage, because it doesn’t help to advance the “Gay Civil Rights” agenda.

These were all defeated by a bunch of volunteer kids who could carry rifles, shoot straight, and love their country enough to put their collective lives on the line. They have done it all.

It may have been a mistake for the United States to go to war in Iraq.
Given that Bin Laden has said this:
The most important and serious issue today for the whole world is this third world war, which the Crusader-Zionist coalition began against the Islamic nation," Osama bin Laden said in an audiotape posted on Islamic Web sites in December 2004. "It is raging in the land of the Two Rivers. The world's millstone and pillar is Baghdad, the capital of the caliphate."
By going into Iraq, Bush has destroyed Bin Laden's ability to reconstitute the Caliphate. Checkmate, end of game.

The Iraqi government is just now making contact with the people who really represent the people, and it is our troops who are making them. We made the mistake of thinking that power in Iraq had been centralized. The truth was that Saddam was only the leader of the most powerful tribe who had over the decades, supressed all others. When the pressure was released, the underlying disunity revealed itself. It has taken the military for years to figure out how the society actually functions. Hopefully Petraeus will perform the same role in Iraq that Pershing did in the Phillipines.
Who will be the first to tell Ron Paul and Harry Reid that we won?

There are several inescapable negatives to the Iraq War:
First is the loss of life by several thousand of our best Americans.
Second is the rise in influence of Iran, over both Iraq and the Persian Gulf.
Third is the immense financial cost to the USA.
Fourth are the serious political losses to the Republican Party here in the USA.
It’s great that we have Al Qaeda on the run in Iraq, and every political candidate should be forced to acknowledge what the real truth is. Even with that great news, it’s not clear to me that the Iraq war, in 20-20 hindsight, was a good idea.

A transnational organization kills 3,000 of our people in a single attack, which is the greatest loss of life we have ever suffered to a foreign power on our soil. That enemy then repeatedly declares that the entire reason for its existence is to recreate the Caliphate. We then checkmate that goal with minimal loss of life. And the result is we have seemingly rationale people in our country who question whether it was worth stopping an enemy that killed more people in a signle attack than the Japapense did at Pearl Harbor. Pretty incredible.

Oddly enough, he thinks I’m a cool guy and enjoys talking to me. I told him we’ll pop a few cold ones open when he gets back.
If this had been Clinton’s war, or a war led by any Democrat, things would be a lot different.
But since it was started and led by a Republican administration, there is no substitute for defeat in the minds of the MSM.
They can’t, absolutely CAN NOT, allow a victory to occur because that might jeopardize the chances for a Democrat victory in 2008. They would rather see 9/11 times 10 happen than to accept that. (As long as they, personally, are not killed.)
