I’ve been busy looking for a rat’s ass so that I could give it, but can’t seem to find one.

Tell it to the aliens that try to cross Mexico’s southern border.

Same here - Calderón was part of a big story line - a drug king - it's funny that every time I hear or read that name, Miami Vice comes to mind - actually, not a good thing, but that program was fun at the time. Back to Mexico - it's totally delusional down there, it's sort of like they feel a 'right' is being trampled on by Americans - so, more than passingly strange - practically insane. On the other hand, I suppose that thinking partly comes out of the years and years that we have done nothing meaningful about illegals. At some level, it's all about us, not the Mexicans - we need to step up.

It is simply amazing to me that many Mexicans feel it is one of their absolute rights to come to the U.S. even illegally and we should do nothing. I have been in Mexico numerous times and never felt like I had any rights there- of course I didn't.

When illegals see the difference in behavior between the Mexican and the US governments, they are emboldened because they see our government cowering in front of theirs.

As Calderon said: Where is a Mexican, there is Mexico

I say: Where there is Mexico, there is Mexican law!

I kid you not. Apply Mexican Law to Mexicans in the US as applied to foreigners in Mexico. You won't have ant illegals in very short time, especially if the go to Mexican-type jails with appalling conditions!

Nobody will accuse us of discrimination either.

Anger in Mexico is growing in the wake of a number of new state laws in the United States considered by critics to be anti-Mexican, a shift probably reflected in President Felipe Calderón's verbal lashing this week of U.S. presidential candidates.

Since when are our laws any of their business. Until they start allowing all their neighbors to the south of them free entrance to Mexico and mexican citizenship, I think they just need to keep their traps shut. Even then, our laws are none of their business, but their laws make them even bigger hypocrits than the Clintons.

"I think the current American government has gone too far against illegal Mexicans," said Fernando Garcia, a 36-year-old Mexico City administrator. "I don't like the raids and how they destroy families (and) ... the hate they are generating against Mexicans."

Ten to one ol' Fernando has some relatives who are living illegally in the U.S. right now.

I hope they're caught, Fernando, put in a cattle car like animals and shipped back to the Mexican border. We already have 40 million unwanted illegals now - we don't WANT any more, you got that?

BTW, Fernando - how's Mexico's policy of dealing with illegal immigrants on its southern border coming along these days?

Calderone rhymes with cabron.

And ya know, I was just thinking—if former General Norman Schwartzkopf decided to get a part-time job as a doorman, because of the cool uniform and cap, and the gold braid, of course you know he would have to be the head guy.
And if he came to support Romney and converted to his religion, his name would then be:

Wait for it....

OK.....

Stormin’ Norman, the Mormon Foreman Doorman.

It is simply amazing to me that many Mexicans feel it is one of their absolute rights to come to the U.S. even illegally and we should do nothing. I have been in Mexico numerous times and never felt like I had any rights there- of course I didn't. They are certainly the prime example of hypocrisy

Well, put the blame where it belongs. Our elite decided long ago that it WAS OK for illegals to come here. They have aided and abetted that process for decades. They have refused to enforce our laws. They have refused to secure the border.

The Mexicans who respond to that are just doing what our leaders have been telling them to do with a wink for 20 years. Now America is, ever so slowly, changing the rules because, it turns out, Americans think their elite is profoundly wrong on this issue. If I were Mexican who had moved here 20 years ago, bought a house, gotten married and had a family, I'd be pissed off. I'm not, I'm a US citizen and I'm furious that our leaders deliberately got us into this mess.

Frankly, as between the illegals and our leaders, I'd take the illegals any day. Our leaders deliberately subverted our laws and sovereignty for crass political and financial gain. The illegals just responded to incentives. Yes, they are illegal and yes, they need to go home and apply for citizenship normally. But I really can't get mad at them at all. Most of them are good people trying to get ahead--and I used to live near the barrio in LA.

What I would really like to do is deport every American politician who winked at illegal immigration for decades, starting with Teddy Kennedy. They are the ones to blame for this mess.

I would say that most American's frustration with our policies is at least as great as Mexico's. Besides that, I am mad as h#!! at the leadership of Mexico for not making MX a place it's citizens want to stay in.

An extremely unwise bet. When the Mexican upper class comes to the US, whether it is to shop at the finest shops, or get an Ivy League MBA, they are 100% documented, and well funded. Any relative of his in this country will fly here first class and stay at hotels highly regarded restaurants, they don't sneak under across the border and sleep under bridges.

The Mexican upper class is upset for two reasons, and neither has anything to do with their members losing jobs as maids or brick layers. The first is that "kick the Gringo" plays well in domestic Mexican politics.

The second is that illegal immigration is the safety valve that keeps pressure for reform from building up, and threatening the Mexican upper class. Millions of peasants and lower middle class Mexicans come to this country because the worst jobs and housing we have is far, far, better than anything they can get in Mexico.

Put all, or even 1/2, of those people back in Mexico, and they will want jobs, housing and opportunity like they had in the US. Mexico cannot provide that sort of opportunity, unless it reforms its economy and government to allow Mexicans the opportunity to open businesses and succeed based on how good a business person they are, as opposed to success being predicated on being plugged into the corrupt, cronyism driven system they have now.

Mexico would benefit from reform, but the Mexican upper class might not. If the business that makes you rich succeeds because you are protected by the government from competition, you are threatened by freedom and free competition. You might agree to reform, if the alternative is revolution brought on the extreme poverty caused by your small, corrupt economy. The Mexican upper class has not had to face that dilemma, because it could export enough of its surplus population to the US. If that ends, they are looking at reform or revolution.

I also want to thank you for the post - it’s strange to think of a Mexican upper class for some reason - I’ve not been in Mexico, I’m sort of aware of the cronyism - but, to think that there is discrimination and a ‘class’ system in Mexico is something new to me. I’m now betting that you have made the point and discovered the problem. Mexicans really need to deal with this in their country.

Mexico’s southern border is a damn fortress and guatamalans are dealt with quite harshly.

Shut up, Feliepe.

I get sick and tired of tin-horn, third world idiots like Calderon trying to tell the citizens of the USA how to run our affairs. I’ll listen to him when he cleans up the mess in his own freakin’ house.

He thinks he is trying to clean his house- by sweeping the poor up here- then Mexico doesn't have to deal with them and their issues. That way the rich can get richer instead of helping the poor or spending the money so Mexico can become a place where the poor could become middle class. That's the problem- we are standing in the way of Mexico's plan to eliminate the poor from their country. And if a few gangsters and other criminals happen to migrate our way- that's all good for them too.

I am all for that!! Brilliant idea- and would be really funny to watch the pompous President of Mexico deal with them- I'm sure firing squads would regain popularity south of the border.
