It doesn’t look like Club for Growth is thrilled with any of the candidates. I think Brownback scored well with them, but he is out. I don’t see all out love for any of them. Hunter does better than Huckabee. It is no surprise they disagree with him on trade. So? They can vote however they want. I’m going with Hunter.

Free trade is distinctly Marxist/socialist in it’s goals and origins.

Conservatives don’t support trading with our enemies, and thus empowering them to destroy free economies. If free economies are to survive and remain free, they must trade only with free peers. Trading with our enemies has weakened us tremendoudly, and destroyed our currency too.

Well said! Sounds like you've been listening to Duncan Hunter.

I support Hunter but you do him no service when you blanket statement people with regional insults.

I’m not surprised that Club for Growth likes Brownback, as both Club for Growth and Brownback are pro-ILLEGAL immigration.

Duncan Hunter voted YAY for trade with Australia, because it was in our country’s best interests.

But due to Red China’s cheating, we have a $250 BILLION trade imbalance EACH YEAR with China.

More money for China to build their military.

Do you trust Red China even when their military hacked into our Pentagon last June, among other things?

The Club for Growth is either naive or blinded by $$.

“Conservatives don’t support trading with our enemies, “

Exactly. Red China is not our friend.

I can remember when Communist Chinese downed an American aircraft over INTERNATIONAL waters, and kept Americans as hostages. The Chinese pilot was purposely trying to down it at great risk, and the risk was so great that the Chinese pilot ended up getting killed.

Then the Chinese harass us by holding American military as hostages for a long time.

I don’t see the small town folks jump on the threads to snipe at the people who write “Kalifornia”, “Left coast wackos”, “or I wouldn’t live there in a million years” and the list could go on.

Along with their idea of a large city when most have never been in one, just their warped views.

It just happens, 90%+ of the people who make warped opinions , have no facts, bash a candidate and sound like they just came from cell meeting for third party losers are from the places I mentioned earlier

I have seen a few, mainly on a thread where a poster wished “Kalifornia” to depart into the sea, he received quite a lashing.

The lashings mainly come from folks in California.

Free trade is distinctly Marxist/socialist in it’s goals and origins.

Free trade occurs when two private individuals find mutual benefit in a transaction. There is nothing Marxist about it. Marxism is where Stalin, Mao, and Kim designated communities as 'independent' and prohibited trade between areas of the country and internationally. Protectionism, requires a big and overreaching government to enforce it.

LOL!

I don't take up too much room. ;o)

I hope and pray that one day I will be fortunate enough to be able to live, at least, close to MS.

Are you asking who I’m currently supporting or who I currently think has the best chance to win?

Supporting. Out of curiosity. The candidate with the best chance to win is typically indicated by numerous polls.

Maybe cuz there aren't any good ones. There is only one who is a true fiscal conservative, but they even had some legitimate criticism of him: http://www.clubforgrowth.org/2007/10/ron_pauls_record_on_economic_i.php

The Club for Growth is pro-ILLEGAL immigration, so I wouldn’t say it’s a good thing if the Club for Growth supports a candidate.

The Club for Growth is overrated by many folks.

Being someones bit** must be miserable,

You should know since you are one. I love armchair heroes like you - brave at their keyboards and willing to send someone else into harm's way. You and those like you are why we're losing the bill of rights. Bet you think the "patriot" act is a good idea. Bet you think that "we have to give up some rights for better security" too.

I have many relatives who have served in Iraq.
When they want senior disabled women, I will go
since I am now retired.

In the mean time we counter the code pink rallys, anti war rallys, anti Israel rallys, and we counter the Mexican take over marches.
Most of you keyboard comandos have never faced a major rally with the enemy of 50,000 as I have.

Since Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) is apparently going to explore the possibility of running for president in 2008. . .

Uh, how old is this article?

Yes, but those particular programs are especially notorious expansions of government. They definitely don’t reflect well on Duncan Hunter in my opinion.

I agree they are bad marks on Hunter, but they are the only bad marks on him... He's spot on on every other issue! Who else has anything to say (much less an action plan) about China?

You and I will never find anyone we agree with 100%, but Duncan Hunter is right 95% which is much better than anyone else!!!

It's also too early to count him out, we need to get the word out so people will know about him and listen for him... That's the only way he stands a chance....

Yes, there are some questions on his fiscal record. That being said, they are relatively mild compared to those of Gov. Huckabee, for instance, or Gov. Romney. A sitting President doesn’t usually issue pork projects, and some of the “pork” projects Rep. Hunter supported (e.g. the border fence) were in fact in the national interest. No candidate is going to be absolutely perfect. In my opinion, however, Rep. Hunter is the best candidate on the key issues of the day in the long run— strong opposition to amnesty, strong on the WOT, socially conservative (very important when picking judges), and when he spends money, it’s on the important stuff. As long as Rep. Hunter can raise the necessary revenues to fund his proposals, and not in the form of increasing progressive income taxes, then I have no problem with him.

Yeah!! What he said!!!

Correct.
4) Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
