That’s the same Joshua Muravchik who is the former chairman of the Young People’s Socialist League.
His use of evidence is about what you’d expect from the leader of such a fine organization, eliminating opponents by whatever means necessary being a tradition of the Left.
Ah, people are out to get him. Classic. The “general public doesn’t know the truth or care.” Translation: But I know the truth. and the rest of you don’t. Geez I could take out his name, substitute Ron Paul or Dennis K. , or a 9/11 tin foil hat theory and that would work. Hey alot of what he says is true, there’s no denying that. But his persona made him unelectable in the past, would do so today, and will be that way tomorrow. May like what he or anyone else has to say on issues but that does not mean I would vote for him/them. And like anyone else who writes a book he is looking for as much face time as he can get to generate sales.
“ To avert a second Cold War, the United States should get out of Russias space and get out of Russias face, and shut down all U.S. bases on the soil of the former Soviet Union
That’s a little odd. Correct me if I’m wrong on this (because I was very young when the Berlin Wall came down), but didn’t the “first” Cold War end preicsely because Reagan got “in Russia’s face”? It almost seems to me he wants the US would prefer some kind of new detente policy with the current Russian incarnation. “
The most in your face action of Reagan was arguably the deployment of Pershing missiles to counter the dangerous Soviet SS-20s, a first strike war-winning weapon. But Reagan’s main strategy was to work on two Soviet weaknesses, their poor economy and their inability to keep up with our technological advances. SDI, ‘Star Wars’, was both expensive and beyond their technological ability. By pushing ahead on it Reagan was breaking their economy. Reagan’s military buildup was intended to force the Soviet economy to the breaking point in their attempt to match our capacity.
We have no current cold war with Russia, and Buchanan’s point is that we should avoid needlessly provoking the Russians by establishing bases on their doorstep. We can better use them as an ally in the war on Islamic terrorism than as a renewed foe.
Joshua Muravchik was raised as a socialist by his parents, but in his maturity has become a conservative. He is now a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, where he researches Middle East politics, democracy, neoconservatism and the history of socialism. He is also a patron of the Henry Jackson Society, a British think tank based in Cambridge. As I recall, Scoop Jackson wasn’t any leftist.
In any event, the evidence of Pat Buchanan’s anti-semitism is unfortunately quite convincing. I didn’t previously even bother mentioning his cynical political alliance with Lenora Fulani, a leftist anti-semite. It’s a consistent picture to me, but you of course are entitled to your own opinion.
As Clyde Wilson once pointed out, "The offensives of radicalism have driven vast herds of liberals across the borders into our territories. These refugees speak in our name, but the language they speak is the same one they always spoke."
Hey,what should I do?Marry some bossy Caucasian Feminazi type so I can propagate the race?
I guess if it is a choice between Gabriella and Pedro jumping the border and me being a miserable wreck,I will choose MY peace of mind.
And you're either living in somewhere like Wyoming, or you possess Stevie Wonder-like vision when it comes to this subject. There are none as blind as those unwilling to see. If there were any justice in the world, the MS-13 would set up shop next door to you. And throw loud parties every night. With lots of drinking. And lots of urination in your shrubbery. With the added benefit of random celebratory gun fire.
if Fred wins next year, america should be fine.
Our basic problem is that among what passes for leadership there are almost none who are nationalists.
Globalism will be the death of the nation.
I always thought the left screeched so loud about Hitler’s nationalism is because it was his only good point and it was all that seperated him from them. Strip away the nationalism and he was just another damned socialist.
Interesting take on Libs and Hitler. You may be right.
What we face is a well organized, well funded and highly motivated opposition: La Raza, ACLU, MeCha, Catholic charities, various lawyer groups, most of both political parties (as seen by the Republicans trying for amnesty when they were in charge).
America and its future is under assault and still, even here on a ‘conservative’ website, this topic has less than 400 posts, but when ‘24’ was playing, or a big sporting event - the post might run into the thousands.
If we don’t get enough people to wake up and take the lead or at least follow on this critic issue, the country, as we know it, is gone.
I am the quintessential pessimist.
However, in the last two years I have met more and more people, especially young people, who are well aware that we are in trouble.
The recent amnesty crap woke many confirmed sheeple from their slumber.
The pessimist in me expects the worst possible results from the coming primary, say; Rudy/Hillaromney vs Hillary/Mohhamed, I mean Obama.
I expect third and foruth party runs and a bitter election, rife with fraud and MSM lies.
That will actually be a positive thing.
It will further awaken the sheeple and the sad fact is we need a sudden sharp drop to the bottom before we have a hope of making a real change.

I've also read Pat's last two books, "The Death of the West" and "State of Emergency", and pretty much agreed with most things he said (I, too, disagree with his isolationist leanings).
But before you go and dismiss Pat's warnings about an "end to America as we know [or knew] it" too quickly, here's another take:
http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071127/COMMENTARY02/111270012
I think the warnings are like firebells in the night, or the cry of the watchman on the Titanic to the bridge: "Iceberg dead ahead!".
We are approaching the turning point now, certainly within the next generation. And like Western Europe, I'm afraid the course won't be "corrected" without violent and cataclysmic actions.

“of course they are going to call you anti-Semetic,Pat”
Ah! but just a few years ago he would have been branded a Nazi here on FR with impunity, and that would have been that.
Pay low prices for services done by illegals but pay triple taxes due to their increase cost on social services, medical cost, crime etc. How's that?
Brilliant post! Now, tell us exactly where and why Pat is wrong.
He need only stay right here. It will no longer be the United States of America.
How Extreme Partisanship Has Paralyzed Washington and Polarized America.

So, it must be some old dumb-ass jumping the shark.
Good for you! Now help us kill the enemy invaders of whom we've already been warned, before they can murder any other Americans:
"We have Nicaragua, soon we will have El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico. One day, tomorrow or five years or fifteen years from now, we're going to take 5 to 10 million Mexicans and they are going into Dallas, into El Paso, into Houston, into New Mexico, into San Diego, and each one will have embedded in his mind the idea of killing ten Americans."
--Thomas Borge, Nicaragua Interior Minister as quoted in the Washington Times, March 27, 1985
