So, do you have any evidence to the contrary of what the state panel says? Or were you just guessing?

Sorry for the delay. I have a life.
As for evidence, only my eyes and ears during the extensively-televised event.
I notice that you did not post a link to the CYA "report". I would love to read it for the comedic and creative writing content. Why is it a secret?
I invite anyone who cares and didn't live through the televised event to read the timeline at:

Massacre Timeline

...and decide for themselves.

How many injuries did the posturing buffoons in their body armor suffer defending others? How many of the victims did?
Use a shotgun to break the chains on the doors and alert the gunman? Brilliant!
They can afford multi-$k body armor, helmets and automatic weapons, but not a $60 bolt cutter?

Give me a break!

“Use a shotgun to break the chains on the doors and alert the gunman? Brilliant!”

It would have taken longer to get bolt cutters because bolt cutters are NOT carried in squad cars, so they used a shotgun. And they didn’t shoot a chained door; they shot one that was locked but not chained. As for alerting the gunman, it might have saved lives. He killed himself after they did it, probably right after heard the noise.

“How many injuries did the posturing buffoons in their body armor suffer defending others?”

How many would like to have been injured? Of course none were injured. Cho heard them coming and killed himself before they got there. Or would you rather Cho have still been alive so he could have possibly shot some of the cops? Personally I’m glad the turd offed himself.

“As for evidence, only my eyes and ears during the extensively-televised event. I notice that you did not post a link to the CYA “report”. I would love to read it for the comedic and creative writing content. Why is it a secret?”

A simple search would have brought it up if you really wanted to read it. No secrets involved. I’m sure there’s a link to it at the Wikipedia article you linked to, since the timeline appears to BE from the report. Anyway, the report is quite thorough AND quite critical about a number of things. It is not a CYA report. 146 pages plus appendices. The key finding about the action at Norris Hal — the police did an “outstanding” job getting in as quickly as possible, securing the scene and carrying out survivors. Read about it from page 94.

http://www.governor.virginia.gov/TempContent/techPanelReport-docs/FullReport.pdf

Why don’t you explain to everybody what you would have done differently if you had been one of the cops. Please tell us how YOU would have gotten through the doors and then gotten up the steps while Cho was still alive, probably still blowing people away while you silently crept up on him. Do you always carry your handy-dandy chain cutters?

The only “posturing buffoon” at this point would seem to be you.

Well, Mr. center-of-the-universe, I got better things to do than look for something on the web without even knowing a title.
What I would have done is irrelevant. I don't get paid to stop killers. None got stopped at Virginia tech. I actually did something useful for my paychecks, as expected.

So much heat and so little light. If you would simply allow others to have an opinion, right or wrong, you could go forward impressing those who give a rat's elbow what you think.

My permanent impression of the Virginia Tech massacre is clowns hanging around; or hauling the bodies out after the shooting stopped.

In the subject ot this thread, the impressive statement is a lone woman ran towards the shots.
I simply don't remember a single similar statement made about Virginia Tech.

Hence my original opinion. End of story.

Have a nice day.

To this very day I still wear a T=Shirt under my baggie button up shirt that has the words SHERIFF down each arm, BACK and front w/ badge logo. the baggie Hawaiian style shirt can be pulled over my head quick if I decide to stay and play. Officer survival dictates no LEO logos , gun company logos or anything that will make a bad guy think I may be armed. No more than my Nike Jacket will make one think I run fast.........:o)..... those lessons remain with me too this day as a retired serviceman and former deputy.

Now that solves a dilema I've been thinking about... keeping the first responders from erasing my butt. I've got dozens of t-shirts that I've, so far, been relegated to wearing only at the range. Hadn't thought of the superman phone booth technique. Good way to wake up tomorrow. Thanks.

Smart to put a 'good neighbor sam' sticker on yer rig rather than a 'insured by Smith & Wesson' or whatever sticker, too.

Out on the planet's surface, I keep my fanny pack holster covering my belt buckle (my only logo item)... but it makes a fine last resort bolo kinda weapon (a pound of brass at the end of a four feet of leather - and you can take it on a plane).

“Well, Mr. center-of-the-universe,”

When you’re wrong and have no defense, start call people names.

“I don’t get paid to stop killers. None got stopped at Virginia tech. I actually did something useful for my paychecks, as expected.”

Ah, so you must get paid to criticize people for the job they do, even though you know absolutely nothing at all about it. I’m still waiting to hear exactly how you would have done this better. Crickets chirping.

“If you would simply allow others to have an opinion, right or wrong, you could go forward impressing those who give a rat’s elbow what you think.”

No problem with having an opinion, but when it is so absolutely wrong and it libels brave first responders who did the best they could, you need to be called on it. When’s the last time you rushed into a situation where your life was in danger. Never? I didn’t think so.

“My permanent impression of the Virginia Tech massacre is clowns hanging around; or hauling the bodies out after the shooting stopped.”

So your impression goes against all the evidence. Sounds a lot like a liberal. Going strictly on impressions and feelings. First responders saved several lives by getting them out quickly even when they thought there was still another shooter on the loose. They formed a diamond and carried folks out. Read the report. I’m sure you’ve done so now, since you were so interested in the link.

“In the subject ot this thread, the impressive statement is a lone woman ran towards the shots. I simply don’t remember a single similar statement made about Virginia Tech.”

You don’t “remember”? Gosh, that proves it. Please bother to read the report. /s

Several people who died tried to rush him, a professor who died blocking the door while all of his students got out except one, another professor who died came down from the third floor instead of staying in his office (after he locked in students), a corps of cadets student who rushed the killer, other students who blocked doors.

It’s obvious from this post that you don’t care in the least what the truth is. You want to believe what you want to believe. The plain fact is that the first police on scene went in absolutely as quickly as they could. I don’t see where you — or anybody else — can refute this.

Fanny packs on a guy are their own indicator of CCW these days.

Dude!
Hell of an idea if you don’t mind looking like a japanese tourist! Of course, I’m looking like a metrosexual as it is.

I’ve been scouring the shops for “acceptable” backpacks and shoulder packs. I’ve found some that are workable, but it sure ain’t my first choice.

That was merely illustrative. Actually, just a small patch on the pack changes its attitude entirely. I don't want to stand out that much (LOL... nor have someone want to steal my camera).

You might also consider — although you probably won’t since you seem to have made up your mind no matter what the evidence — that while parents of the victims have been publicly upset about the way the mental health system failed to function properly and that students weren’t notified earlier after the first murders (the report is highly critical of those elements), I have yet to see any complain about the response at Norris Hall. And that’s because the response at Norris Hall was textbook.

If you have evidence to the contrary, please interrupt the chirping crickets.

Yep, I saw her on Larry King. Personally, I would not have gone on that old zombie’s show, but she did. Shows she’s got a lot of guts.
