RUSH: Now, this theory of mine based on this Drudge picture of Mrs. Clinton, with the headline: "The Toll of a Campaign." Now, it could well be that that's a sympathy photo, too, to make people feel sorry for how tough the campaign trail is. Now, I want to preface this by saying I know it's going to get out there. Media Matters is going to get hold of this and they're going to take it all out of context. We can expect that. It's a badge of honor when this happens, but for the rest of you, I want you to understand that I am talking about the evolution of American culture here, and not so much Mrs. Clinton. It could be anybody, and it is really not very complicated. Americans are addicted to physical perfection, thanks to Hollywood and thanks to television. We know it because we see it. We see everybody and their uncle in gyms. We see people starving themselves. We see people taking every miracle fad drug there is to lose weight. We see guys trying to get six-pack abs. We have women starving themselves trying to get into size zero and size one clothes; makeovers, facials, plastic surgery, everybody in the world does Botox, and this affects men, too. As you know, the haughty John Kerry Botoxed his wrinkles out during the campaign.
There is this thing in this country that, as you age -- and this is particularly, you know, women are hardest hit on this, and particularly in Hollywood -- America loses interest in you, and we know this is true because we constantly hear from aging actresses, who lament that they can't get decent roles anymore, other than in supporting roles that will not lead to any direct impact, yay or nay, in the box office. While Hollywood box-office receipts may be stagnant, none of that changes the fact that this is a country obsessed with appearance. It's a country obsessed with looks. The number of people in public life who appear on television or on the big screen, who are content to be who they are, you can probably count on one hand. Everybody's trying to make themselves look different -- and in that situation, in that case, they think they're making themselves look better. It's just the way our culture has evolved. It's the way the country is. It's like almost an addiction that some people have to what I call the perfection that Hollywood presents of successful, beautiful, fun-loving people. So the question is this: Will this country want to actually watch a woman get older before their eyes on a daily basis?

I agree, Rush has misfired here. The photo in question just makes her look mature and serious, it does her no harm. If she wants to be elected she needs to convince people she is the next Thatcher, or the next Golda Meir, someone who can be trusted at the helm of a country at war.
She is not that person, but she needs to be seen as that person, so the photo is actually a boon if anything.
Unless something in someone’s appearance is indicative of their underlying character, its usually better not to bother criticizing it, unless you’re a satirist in which case most anything goes. And there is an element of that in anything Rush does, I realize.
I was just thinking the same thing. She looks a little like an aunt of mine, who has since passed away, but she was nearly 90 and her complexion looked like that.
She’s got that Arlen Specter grin going on.
That's not it.
Hillary is the nag at every party, telling everyone not to drink too much, eat too much, or tell that sort of joke, even though it isn't her party and no one is absolutely sure who invited her.
Hillary is the crazy mom none of the other moms like who drones on about how great her kid is, even though she really isn't. She doesn't fit in, and she knows she doesn't fit in, and she tried to force the issue by being bossy, but that only makes it worse.
Hillary is the woman everyone knows is being cheated on by her lying scoundrel of a husband, but she doesn't have any close girlfriends to tell her and no body else likes her enough to tell her, either.
Hillary is that girl that your mom made you invite to your birthday party, even though you didn't want to, because you knew she was going to ruins everything trying to boss all the other kids around
She's the person you will be sorry having pity on, because she's too obtuse to ever go away.
Hillary is the woman no woman wants to be, and no man wants to be tied to, lest anyone think he can't do better.
That's who Hillary is.
One of the truly beautiful women of our time.
It's not the years, it's the mileage.
I think they miscalculated there. Kerry just looks goofy. Not that I condone it, I have no doubt looks played a role in that election. Bush looked and still looks more presidential.
So ... then your saying ... you like her appearance?

I agree with you. I’d much rather see a person age naturally the to see someone like Nancy Pelosi who looks taxidermied.

Did you actually use the word "graceful" in connection with Hillary? Ick.
Rush has made fun of haggy, old feminists for as long as I’ve listened to him.
The reason for pointing out the wrinkled, old Hillary go, it is entertaining to compare photos of Hillary from a debate with the haggy photo. It shows how fake politicians are on the inside and outside. Everything is illusion. From the words they say before a camera to the image they portray, it is all a quest for power.
People would like Hillary better if she would get rid of the no wrinkle look and be who she is.
Now try imagining that without makeup.
“Aging woman” is not the issue here, it’s UGLY aging woman...
Disregarding my contempt for Hillary, I say why should we hate looking at an aging woman any more than an aging man?
Many aging women are lovely to look at and they have the wisdom of the years compared to the silicone bimbos, lol.
Lets face it, IF YOU’RE LUCKY, YOU’RE GOING TO AGE!
