071215-N-3659B-065 PACIFIC (Dec. 15, 2007) Medical personnel aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) transfer a patient from an HH-60H Seahawk from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Warfare Squadron Four (HS) 4 following an emergency medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) at sea. The crew of Ronald Reagan and HS-4 helped MEDEVAC a 14-year old Illinois girl who had suffered from a ruptured appendix while vacationing aboard the Dawn Princess cruise ship off the coast of Baja, California. Upon arrival to the ship, the ship's surgeon conducted an emergency appendectomy and the patient is resting comfortably aboard Ronald Reagan. Can you just imagine the memories this gal will have? Think in a few years someone will be enlisting in the USN?

She’ll have to wait until she’s graduated H.S. and is 18 though.

When you are in trouble the United States Military is your savior. If you are the bad guys, they are your worst nightmare. In the left hand they hold the olive branch of peace but the right hands armored fist holds the lightning bolts of Thor.

The girls mother is gonna need to bake a whole bunch of cookies. Doesn’t the RR have something like 5,000 sailors aboard?

They have to go out, but they do not have to return.

That's actually a Coast Guard saying, not the Navy. And in CG boot camp they give that speech... "Maybe you've heard that saying about how you have to go out but you don't have to come back..."

"That's *bunk*". They'll say. "Those boats we let you use are expensive. You damn well better bring them back.".

:-)
