ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president — Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

A spokesman for the George H.W. Bush was not immediately available to comment on whether the former president would chip in some diplomatic help after his son leaves office next year.

I don’t like to harp on it, but I am more inclined to agree with this than may folks here are. I thought Bush was a major mistake in 2000, and I continue to see him in those terms.

Me too. We could have done so much better.

Rush indicated on the show today that GHWB said he never said that. However, the Drudge headline doesn’t reflect the response and denial of Bush 41.

According to Rush today, Bush 41 denied it but Drudge still has the original quote from Clinton as his headliner.

Antoninus, if better men don’t run, and the public doesn’t pick the better man, this will continue.

Bush had $70 million dollars in his war chest by about September of 1999. That was a huge obsticle for other candidates to overcome, and if you look at it another way, it’s a huge obsticle for the segment of the public whose heads are in the right place, to overcome as well.

I have grave concerns again this year. I am not convinced that the better candidate will win, and if we have come to the place where citizens can no longer understand who the better candidate is, then perhaps it’s time this nation move aside. It will not continue to lead on this course.

CNN.com reports GHWB will not be going on such a trip and supports GWB and the country as it is now.

It's amazing how gullible some people are.

They know Bill Clinton is a liar, yet they're willing to believe anything he says.

The Truth:

Former President George H.W. Bush has shot down his successor Bill Clinton’s idea

former President Bush’s chief of staff Jean Becker said that he “wholeheartedly supports the President of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an ‘around-the-world-mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of hope for freedom and democracy.

Well, that seems only right. Bill Clinton is such a egomaniac, it was like he was trying to steal W’s father from him—right under his nose! If Clinton had any scruples, it would only be because he stole them from someone else! Clinton’s Biblical inspiration must have come directly from Jacob’s stealing Esau’s birthright!

President Bush 41 has always treated Bill Clinton with dignity and respect. For Clinton to come out today and say what he said is an insult to Bush Sr.
It only exemplifies what a lying, rotten p.o.s. Bill Clinton is.

Absolutely!!

This latest Clinton lie shows how unbelievably, and pathetically SHAMELESS that lying piece of scum is. Shameless--ABSOLUTELY SHAMELESS--and with no conscience at all.

It's unbelievable that ANYONE would respect someone like that.

It takes three things to be a professional conartist like Clinton. You have to be a pathological liar--you have to have NO SHAME--and you have to have no conscience. Very few people can put those three together--and none as well as Slick.

Show me a quote where GHW Bush said he will go abroad with Bill under Hillary's presidency, "to repair the image of the US"!

All -- stop and think!!!

I heard something on Rush Limbaugh show regarding GHW, when asked if that was true, he denied it.

Now, my question is, will he (GHW) or anyone else call Bill Clinton on the carpet for this rather serious breach of ethics?

As I said before:

Elder Bush nixes Clinton trip idea

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1941404/posts

“In a statement sent to CNN Tuesday afternoon, former President Bush’s chief of staff Jean Becker said that he wholeheartedly supports the President of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an
“around-the-world-mission” with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of hope for freedom and democracy.

“President Bush is excited about several of the excellent Republican candidates running for president, and looks forward to discussing their candidacy once the Republican nominee is determined.”

How sad that people were more interested in attacking Bush, based on Bill Clinton’s obvious lies, than stop and think about how ludicrous Bill Clinton’s statement was to begin with.
