In addition to raising auto fuel efficiency standards 40 percent, an energy bill passed by Congress yesterday bans the incandescent light bulb by 2014.

President Bush signed the 822-page measure into law today after it was sent up Pennsylvania Avenue in a Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle. The House passed the bill by a 314-100 vote after approval by the Senate last week.

Cool!

I can abort my children in the third trimester, but if the doctor uses an incandescent bulb in his task light as he’s extracting the bloody pieces, then the Feds can put a cap in his a$$.

Got it.

Not that I need any such drugs but it was reported a while back that more and more commercial pilots were failing their color tests. The cause appeared to be the use of Viagra.

We’d need a small government conservative for that.

I question the constitutionality of that clause, outlawing incandescent light bulbs. That stretches the Commerce Clause past its breaking point IMHO.

“OH GOODY, ANOTHER ETHANOL TYPE MESS BROUGHT TO US BY THE IDIOTS RUNNING CONGRESS - DEMOCRATS.”

Well, that’s what happens when conservatives stay home “to show Republicans” — we all suffer.

If you think this is bad, just wait until Hillary or Obama gets elected president with an overwhelmingly Dem Congress, because conservatives vote third party or stay home.

It is amazing, that people don’t connect cause and effect — between elections and who controls the nation.

Our research staff has determined that an interesting correlation exists between cranium size of a typical house majority member(aka Democrats) (see left specimen) compared to recent observations of typical Republican Congressmen as shown on the right.

“New bulbs are all made in China”

New bulbs are all made with toxic mercury and emit toxic UV. Possibly it’s all part of the environmentalist’s plan to lower the population by 50%.

When in the course of human events ...

I guess the bugs don’t like the light either....lol. That is one good point though. I’ll have to try a couple outside.

I know they don’t work well with photo electric cut offs. My outside lights have these so they will shut down during the day. About drove a friend of mine nuts, trying to get it them to work.

Obviously the light bulbs didn’t go on in the minds of those who voted for this bill.

Soon when we go to Mexico twice a year to buy medicine, I guess we'll be adding incadescent light bulbs to the list.

Do you suppose the U.S. Customs Agents will be authorized to put us in jail for bringing incadescent light bulbs into the U.S.??

Let's turn this around. Surely there is a Freeper with the smarts to sue to prevent the bill from being implemented, under the banner of protecting the environment from Mercury poisoning.

Come on guys, let's boil them in their own oil!

Driven to the President in a Japanese car? Now that’s pathetic. We couldn’t use a hybrid of our own?

right lady.

Go ahead and defend this President to the bitter end if you wish.

I won't, and I voted for him TWICE.

Not voting would have been better.
