uhm...nothing to uncommon since this is murder mall we're talking about. I love how the press is trying to paint all of baltimore as a hell hole, when it's just not so. Most of the city is perfectly fine...but like any city...there are areas you stay out of.
I work in Pikesville (Baltimore County) and live in Howard County, so I don’t go into the city that often. I’ve found that there are a few areas of the city that are responsible for 99% of the violence, but that’s enough to put Baltimore on the map as one of the worst hellholes in the country.
“Most” is a very subjective word.
I cry when I drive through the city; block after collapsing deteriorating block. It is so bad that distributors of Section 8 housing vouchers are suing the County that surrounds Baltimore City to offer more neighborhoods accessible to Section 8 tenants. Even they cannot live in the city neighborhoods that are hellholes.
They're low for rape, average for robbery, and in the Top Five (of the largest 52 US cities, ending with Wichita, KS) in aggravated assault. They're also about average for property crimes.
