The base isn't fooled by the Huckster or Romney or Giuliani. And the base WILL turn out.

From your lips to God's ears.

Fortunatly I don’t think we will have to worry about Mike or Rudy. It seems the RNC might be coming to its senses....

If you would vote for Rudy, why would you have such a problem with Hillary, there isn’t a great deal of difference policy wise.

No, Fred has just figured out how his alarm clock works and he might be awake by January 3. Given his low-energy, low-luster, under-the-radar campaign, he will be spending January 4 in Toast City, Iowa.

>>Indeed. Equating Hillary and Rudy falls under the same posture, and anyone who thinks that way has already been reeled in by the drive-by’s.<,

While they are very different people and there would no doubt be practical differences in appointments... on paper their policies do not seem that different.

Where I think the Republican party is hurting the worst is all the intra-party attacks that are not based on policy differences.

Well, that's cetainly the MSM spin. You've got that down pretty good.

I guess you'll be as surprised as they are going to be.

Fred.

Just watch.

It's being handled.

Just curious ... based on what traditional conservative principles do you base your support of the Mayor?

Strong leadership, less government, lower taxes, tough on crime and terrorism, bold defense of America, strict interpretation of the constitution and a willingness to appoint judges of similar temprement.

None of the other electable GOP candidates offer as much.

Fred’s plan better take into account an O.J. Jury dressed up as republican primary voters in Iowa.

Hopefully, as long as the rat primary is seen as competitive, it may mitigate against what you describe since they will need to tend to their own business.

Corrupt leadership.
Questionable record on crime.
No history of preventing a single terrorist act or of facing decisions that actually affect national security.
I agree with his position on constructionist judges.
I think he talks a good game on taxes but he was a MAYOR - call his record incomplete at best on that issue.

On most social issues he fails to make the grade as a moderate, much less as a conservative.

Electability is the game the MSM wants you to play. This is the GOP - decide for yourself who is best fit to serve the country - not based on what you think other people will do. This is a battle of ideas - the contest for power to implement those ideas is almost a year away. Sad that you seem to have abdicated priniples to what CNN tells you about who can actually win.

How do you square “less government” and “strict interpretation of the constitution” with his history on gun control? How do you square “tough on crime” with NYC being a sanctuary city under his tenure?

If its snow, rain or pours, the RINOS/LIBS lazy with the chore, will stay at home, and will only snore.
If bails of hail fall like a whale, the broken glass conservative will be at the polling place door, they'll vote with their values, and will not fail.
Fred's calling the faithful with a charge, to hold back the evil scourge, that this nation has endured, and with enough faithful , Fred will surge.
And if God is favorable, and Fred is sworn in, then we done what he could do, and this nation was saved, by the righteous conservative purge.

I've noticed that trend too and hope in continues.

Having the holidays in the middle of the homestretch for this has made it all the more nerve wracking.

I'll be hitting that website frequently Monday afternoon.. hoping to see another point or two added to Fred and, MORE IMPORTANTLY, a few more off Huckabee.

If that is the case, then Fred should slow down a tad to ensure Huckabee wins and finish with a strong 2nd.

Another poll this a.m. shows Huckabee dropping slightly and Romney in the lead; Fred third but a point above McCain.

I wouldn't be surprised Fred showing a strong third if not second, what with his momentum. The non-committed percentage remains high. But, time will tell.

Baby is still in the hospital in the NICU with what looks to be a lung infection. Docs optimistic, but need prayers.

How do you square “less government” and “strict interpretation of the constitution” with his history on gun control?

Rudy’s willingness to appoint strict constructionists to the bench preserves the sanctity of the 2nd amendment. This is a false issue and a media-created straw man that some GOP primary voters are irrationally fixated upon, which means they took the bait.

How do you square “tough on crime” with NYC being a sanctuary city under his tenure?

I don’t. I square being “tough on crime” with making NYC a safer city than the one he found.

There isn’t a great deal of difference policy wise?

Except for, maybe, a minor and almost irrelevant detail such as a WAR where defeat would have catastrophic consequences for America's vital interests and safety?

If we are going to have a liberal in the White House, I would rather have a liberal that will not declare defeat in the Iraq War to appease the Left but, instead, will fight like a bulldog to win the war .

Rudy wants desperately to win the war.

June 5, 2007 ... Giuliani: Iraq war 'absolutely the right thing to do' .... Iraq should not be seen in a vacuum. It is part of terrorist war against the United States." ... "The danger to us is a state like Iran handing nuclear weapons over to terrorists," he said. "So it has to be seen in that light and we have to be successful in Iraq."

Hillary wants to wage the war in whatever manner scores her political brownie points with her left-wing base.

February 18, 2007 ...... Hillary Clinton urges troop withdrawal to begin in 90 days

Today, the Surge has transformed the war and victory is there for the taking as long as the Americans of this decade have more guts than they have stupidity. Imagine the guaranteed defeat that would have occurred if the U.S. had commenced to bug out in May 2007 like Hillary proposed.

The strategic stakes in the Persian Gulf (70% of the World's known oil reserves and wealth militarily controlled by Islamist fanatics on the verge of developing nuclear weapons who think Mutally Assured Destruction is a good thing as long as they take America with them in a nuclear holocaust) are much to high and too many brave American men and women have given their lives to protect America's vital interests in the Persian Gulf to have us throw it all away because we are having a tantrum about Rudy not being "conservative enough".

Having a tantrum and voting for Ross Perot because George Bush, the Elder was not perfect enough for some of us is what put Bill Clinton in the White House in 1992 with only 43% on the popular vote.

"If Hitler invaded Hell, I would at least make a favourable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons." ......... Winston Churchill

If Rudy is running against Hillary or Obama in November 2008, I will be voting for Rudy.

What good is winning the war if we lose the country. Hillary will do what ever the polls tell her to do and that means staying in Iraq.

Using your logic, you would vote for Hillary over Rudy if each switched their position on the war tomorrow.

My wife came home yesterday. We are making a couple of trips a day up there and I work down the street at the VA Hospital.

The are trying to feed him today and they are looking at starting to wean the ventilator some more. He is heading in the right direction.

We saw him a bit a go and my wife laughed for the first time. He was sleeping in the exact same position I do when I am sick or really tired. Nurses said no matter how they move him he goes right back to that position.

“Rudy’s willingness to appoint strict constructionists to the bench preserves the sanctity of the 2nd amendment.

If you believe he’ll actually appoint strict constructionist judges. I, personally, don’t. Episodes like him claiming that he can support a partial birth abortion ban -now- because it -now- has an exception for the life of the mother, when EVERY PBA ban ever proposed has had that exception, convince me that he’s full of crap, and willing to say anything, including slandering conservatives, to get elected.

“This is a false issue and a media-created straw man that some GOP primary voters are irrationally fixated upon, which means they took the bait.”

Oh please. I haven’t heard the MSM complain about his gun control position once, and would probably snort soda through my nose if they did. The complaints I’ve heard about it have been on the conservative blogosphere, and it’s a damn good point.

“I square being “tough on crime” with making NYC a safer city than the one he found.”

And he did well on violent crime - but he certainly wasn’t tough in any way on illegal immigration. He was in fact very open to it. Just so the record’s clear, his toughness on crime seems to be rather selective.
