Modern Claims To Have Seen The Ark Of Noah

The story of Haji Yearam is the first known to us where a person claims to have seen the ark himself. He was born in 1832 in Armenia, moved at sometime to Oakland, California, where he lived until he died in 1920. "When Haji was a large boy, but not yet a man fully grown, there came to his home some strangers. If I remember correctly there were three vile men who did not believe the Bible and did not believe in the existence of a personal God. They were scientists and evolutionists. They were on this expedition specifically to prove the legend of Noah's Ark to be a fraud and a fake. They hired the father of young Haji Yearam as their official guide. They hired the boy to assist his father as guide. "After extreme hardship and peril the party came to the little valley up on Greater Ararat, not on the very top, but a little down from the top. This little valley is surrounded by a number of small peaks. There the ark came to rest in a little lake, and the peaks protected it from the tidal waves that rushed back and forth as the flood subsided. On one side of the valley the water from the melting snows and glacier spills over in a little river that runs down the mountain. As they reached this spot, there they found the prow of a mighty ship protruding out of the ice. They went inside the ark and did considerable exploring. It was divided into many floors and stages and compartments and had bars like animal cages of today. The whole structure was covered with a varnish or lacquer that was very thick and strong, both outside and inside the ship...

You are mixing up stories. Ma-Nu, as he is better known, was actually saved by Krishna manifest in his form as the Great Fish.

The Fish tied Ma-Nu's boat to the peak of a mountain with a tether using his other form as a large, multiheaded cobra.

At the end of the flood, Ma-Nu came out of the boat as did 7 sages and they went out to repopulate and recreate the world having saved all knowledge.

Atlantis is a far more recent story involving fictional beings.

A classified CIA report which was accidentally released in 1992, revealed the CIA “has relationships with reporters from every major wire service, newspaper, news weekly, and television network in the nation.”

Nope, but they found the cages for the green alligators and long-neck geese, some humpeddy backed camels and some chimpanzees . . .

Unless this is “historical” Armenia.

That's interesting, since Darwin's evolution theories didn't exist until long after this guy's boyhood. Also kind of funny that someone would climb a mountain to disprove something's existence. The absence of an ark on Ararat would not disprove anything.

Just silly.

I was quickly scanning the rest of the article. I see it comes from a Adventist University site. The university is a bit south of Fort Worth (as it appears on the map — never heard of it before).

Now, if the ark has been seen by several people over the years, running back into the 1800s, then it would appear that it should still be around there now. If it lasted from that time of the Flood, to some time in the 1800s (pretty much intact), then there should be ample evidence to the present time.

It would be nice to be able to get to the actual location and excavate what there is left, there. Apparently, from what I’ve read before, the area is not an area that is conducive to outside travelers and has been closed off in the past (don’t know about today, but I would imagine so).

You said — “Was the great flood caused by global warming?”

I think it ended up in a great global cooling, actually. As far as the cause, of course it was by the hand of God in delivering the judgement to those people of that time, but it also notes that the “fountains of the deep” burst open and also flooded the earth. Along with that, you’ve got the huge downpours, which must have come from some kind of “vapor canopy” which sustained a different kind of environment prior to the flood. And so, that collapsed and “rained out” for that time indicated in the Bible. The both, together contributed to the world-wide flood, from which there was no escape, except by being in the ark.

Did I miss something? I just don’t get the connection of that sentence to the website article you listed. Perhaps you could explain...

You were saying — “The absence of an ark on Ararat would not disprove anything.”

Well, that particular point never was fully understood by the Soviets, when they got into space. I recall one of the cosmonauts saying that he could see no God, now that they had arrived up there, in space... LOL...

It's simple logic.

The Bible does not say that the Ark will remain on Ararat forever, that Noah's descendents wouldn't use it for firewood or as a house, that the elements wouldn't remove it from existence. To someone who believes this story, it happened 5000 years ago, and we can't even find Viking boats from 900 years ago, let alone something supposedly that old.

Find an Ark up there in pristine condition, and you would have something to argue about. Find nothing, and you have proven nothing, except that nothing remains of the Ark, just as nothing remains of innumerable physical items mentioned in the Bible.

Well..., apparently enough people have seen it, over the period of about a century and a half, so that it seems to have not been used up or consumed. Reports seem to indicate a full-sized boat and not one missing most of the structure.

I don’t know if I would call it being in pristine condition, but it appears to be mostly there from prior reports.

As far as physical items being left from the various time periods spoken about in the Bible, I would say that they’ve dug up enough archeological artifacts, for the things spoken about in the Bible, to fill many museums. There’s no shortage there.

Overall, on the weight of everything that the Bible speaks about, that mankind has been able to find and verify, it is accurate. There are things that haven’t been found, but that isn’t something unusual for things so far in the past. You would not expect to not find everything. For what has been found, it matches up with what the Bible says. That gives validity to the other things that people have not been able to find and verify at this point in time.

Star Traveler
