What a waste. I’ve always liked him as an actor since “10 Things I Hate About You” and especially “The Patriot”. Whatever the cause of his death is, I think it’s a shame and I feel bad for his daughter, who will not be able to grow up with her father.

well this story kinda put a damper on my evening.

I hate to hear of people losing their life because they give in to some temptation (it boggles my mind how drugs could tempt anyone) to dabble in drugs.

They definitely will.
It's already been filmed.
The only thing that might not be complete is all of the voice overs, as every dialogue line in films are rerecorded in a studio during post-production.

I really wanted a different Joker. I think Crispin Glover or perhaps Alan Cumming would have been much truer to the comic book.

He shouldn’t get any credit for playing that sick role.

Who the hell are you? You are an idiot and should not get any credit here on FR. It works both ways. I never saw the movie but the guy is dead and you have to be negative. So I suppose when every person who dies and played a gay character on TV or movie...which is fiction you will say the same nasty comments?

I think that is why they call it "acting." You see, when a person is an "actor" they play roles, they are not themselves.

For example, actors in their roles sometimes kill people, that does not make the actor a bad person, simply because the chararter they play is a murderer.

And Ledger, simply because he played a gay in a movie does not mean that he was gay or a bad person.

I only know his Patriot character, Gabriel Martin, for which he was perfect. Very sad that a two-year-old girl has lost her father.

Check this out....

“The 28-year-old actor, who had reportedly been ill with pneumonia, had an appointment for a massage at the apartment, which is believed to be his home in Soho in Manhattan.”

This is from the Age in Australia. He probably died of respiratory arrest. How sad.

Well all of the insanity wasn’t just with the crowd outside Ledger’s building last night. PerezHilton has up that Fred Phelps and the his Wesboro Baptist Band of Loons is now chiming in and they are planning on picketing Ledgers’ funeral because ‘G-D hates f#gs.’ I would guess that Mr. Ledger will be laid to rest in his native Australia...hopefully the the Phelps’ congregation won’t up put up with in the Land Down Under.

No, I don't have to get over "the two guy thing". I don't have to compromise my morals and my beliefs. The very fact that this was the subject matter of the film makes it a bad movie in my book no matter how you try to spin it.

You go ahead and "get over it" if you want to, but filth is filth and that doesn't change because of good cinematography or acting.

Perez just put it up in the last 40 minutes or so...and even at this early hour, he has over 300 comments posted. Interestingly, many PH readers are getting schooled as to what Phelps has been doing all along (protesting at our service member's funerals). Many are incensed (didn't know about it) now that they know.

I agree w/you...some Aussie justice would be good.

The Ledger family has also issued a statement (nothing out of the ordinary)...and the autopsy will be done today in NYC.

If you go back and read my posts I have shown great respect for Heath Ledger who I feel was an excellent actor. My discussion was about the content of one movie he was in that I refused to see based on its content.

I can respect the person without having to compromise on my morals.

Did you think The Godfather glorified the Mafia?

Yes, which is why I never liked those movies.

Lolita glorified pedophillia?

Probably. I'll never know for sure because I won't watch a movie about pedophilia in the first place.

You don't get it, and I can see that you don't want to get it. It doesn't make me uncomfortable. It might make me nauseous, but that's another matter. I don't care if you think it's a reality of life, that's the position you have decided on. Not me. It is a lifestyle choice that is entirely incompatible with my personal religious beliefs, and therefore, I will never accept it as "normal" or anything else. I don't hate people who choose that path. I believe that all people have value and worth in God's eyes and that there is redemption from all sin through the shed blood of Jesus.

It also doesn't matter if you think I want it to go away or not, because there will come a day when it will go away, and neither you nor I will have any say one way or the other about it.

At this point I have said all I care to say on the subject, especially to someone who just seems to want to get a reaction from someone. Hope you've had your fun. I'm done on the subject.

See “The Namesake”. It’s a wonderful movie. Also I hear “Once” is good, but I didnt’ see it.

I rented "Once" because I was a little down from a rough month and didn't want to see any action movies or what stands for comedies these days. I was disappointed with "I am Legend" and "3:10 to Yuma".

I was spellbound by "Once". It was simply amazing and then halfway through I started to realize they still could destroy the ending. It was perfect. I bought the soundtrack and the movie as soon as it was released for sale. 17 days and 130,000 dollars made a masterpiece.

Please give it a try.

Just a little tiny warning on the movie. When they were filming they found out the singer just couldn’t act so they let him hold his guitar and sing his lines to the girl. They let him go and then he was quite good. The problem is he was discussing the love of his life who cheats on him so his language earned the movie an “R” rating.

Without the language, the movie would have had a “G” rating and far more people would have discovered it.

Don’t wait. Rent it this weekend. You can always watch it again when the 19 year old brings it back.

It’s time to demand a Congressional investigation into the illegal drug use and abuse in Hollywood. Something is killing the mega stars of Hollywood and that something is ignorance!

As concerned citizens and movie goers we need to step up and demand that all film and television production companies begin immediate drug testing on all of it’s performers, writers, producers and technical staff. Also we need to demand that all film and television production companies take a Zero Tolerance policy when it comes to those who are found to be using illegal drugs (as well as large amounts of prescription drugs), and impose stiff penalties, including permanent banishment to those who fail a third drug test.

The time has come to make Hollywood that we will no longer stand by and watch our favorite actors and actresses fall prey to the folly of illegal drugs!

If is is good enough for professional sports and many other professions, then it should be good enough for Hollywood!

How disgusting are these people who would do that at his funeral?

This was a good article with only facts reported.

****************

TMZ has learned the paramedics who first attended to Heath Ledger were interviewed by NYPD today and said the scene looked “normal” — meaning it didn’t appear as if illicit drug use had occurred.

As we reported earlier, the rolled $20 bill found at the scene tested clean for illegal narcotics, and the numerous pill bottles were nearly full.

The exact cause of Heath’s death will be determined when the toxicology results come in sometime in the next two weeks.
TMZ has learned what types of pills were discovered in the apartment where Heath Ledger was found dead.

NYPD sources tell TMZ that nearly full pill bottles containing the anti-anxiety medications Alprazolam (Xanax), Diazepam (Valium), Lorazepam (Ativan) were found in the apartment. The sleeping medication Zoplicone (Lunesta) and the sedative Temazepam (Restoril) — which is used by people with “debilitating insomnia” — were also found.

All of the drugs were prescribed to Ledger.

Plus another nice interview with Christopher Plummer whom he was just making a movie with

...filth is filth and that doesn't change because of good cinematography or acting.

I concur with Pablo64; this is a matter of respect and I think respect is "earned" (and, yes, I know that it cannot be compelled).

I give my respect to those who I think have earned it. Just as many in Hollywood do not respect me (as a son, brother, Christan, husband, father, soldier, grandfather, and as a Taxpaying American Citizen!), I do not respect most of those in Hollywood today. There are rare exceptions! There was a time when many in Hollywood were worthy of respect; not only for their acting talents but for their actions on behalf of this nation during World War II and Korea. There were a few who were genuine American Heroes; Jimmy Stewart flew combat bombing missions over Europe! Most "actors" of today are selfish, self-centered, and self-absorbed, and care little for this nation.

Just as most actors of today do not respect or emphathize with the decent, hard-working American Citizens of today, I do not have to "render" respect to Heath Ledger! His so-called "Oscar" portrayal was of a Sexual Deviant & Social Degenerate and of Homosexual Obsession; I remember another movie a few years ago starring Denzel Washington, entitled "Courage Under Fire". It was an outstanding movie! It will filled with mystery and suspense; you couldn't tell for the first half of the movie whether the second main character, Meg Ryan, who protrayed a woman helicopter pilot who had been killed in combat was a real-life hero or a psychopath. In any event, she had been nominated for Award of the Medal of Honor. In finding the truth about Meg Ryan's character, Denzel Washington comes to terms with the "demons" that have been destroying his own life, career, and marriage. This was an Oscar-Worthy Movie that was all but ignored by almost all of Hollywood.

The "Academy" in general, ignored the movie. They, instead decided to "honor" Brokeback Mountain a couple of year later; I do not have to spend my money or empathy, or time on something that glorifies perversion and typifies the highest levels of disgust that I am able to attain!
